Lots with the curious here. *cat ears and a tail pop up*

    1. Do you know who originally started anime? And who started calling it anime? And ...

    2. Is it true that Walt Disney got his inspiration for big eyed characters FROM anime?

To answer your questions we need to establish a standardized definition of anime for the purpose of discussion. Basically, are we going by the Western definition, or are we using the Japanese definition? By Western standards, anime is anything animated that comes from Japan. However, in Japanese culture, anime is simply anything animated. The tern anime comes from the Japanese pronounciation (and shortening) of the word animation.

If we're going by the Western definition, one of the first anime brought to the United States was Astro Boy. I don't know if this was the first anime, but it's one of the first.

But if we're using the Japanese definition of anime....Steamboat Willie is one of the first Disney cartoons ever made, and is thus one of the first (if not the first) anime out there.

As for your second question....no, Disney did not get his inspiration from Japanese anime. It was the other way around. Japanese animators were inspired by Disney, as Disney was one of the first (if not the first) people to successfully create a feature-length animated film.
