Smoke Free Places Act

Well, this issue, right now, is huge in not just my home town, but all of Nova Scotia. You can't smoke in any public place, and if you're under the age of nineteen and caught, you're screwed. If caught, you're fined, pretty heavily too. I have two people in my family who are Bartenders and are being fined, and have to go to Court over this issue, as they allowed people to smoke in their bars after the law was passed. But, the thing is, it's horrible for business, because there is some towns where the law isn't in effect yet. What I want to know from you guys is, do you think it's going to work? Do you think it's totally pointless? In my opinion, it's a good idea. I mean, it's a law, and if you break it, face the consequences. Also, maybe it will discourage more people to quit, which can only up health and lower health care costs, right? But, I'm a non smoker, and don't take offence or have a problem with it. It's not just a health issue either, frigging smokes cost 10 bucks a pack alone, you add that up for at least two packs a week, per year and it's a lot of money. Plus, the earlier you get addicted, the harder and longer it takes to get off it. I know I might sound like a total erm...goodie two shoes? or whatever, but I think smoking is incredibly dumb. "Yeah, I need a stick full of tar and other deadly chemicals that may eventually give me cancer or some other fabulous disease to calm my nerves." I imagine it's hard, but, would you rather live better, or die trying to calm your nerves? That may sound extreme, but in the long term it's right.

 

Smoking can be annoying to non-smokers indeed... and yeah, it's a health issue and a money issue... You said it all and I'm too sleepy to add anything at the moment....

 

In some cities in Ontario we have the same dealy going, and IIRC at first there was the same troubles as you guys got, but eventually it was all smoothed out.

well some people think its cool.
some people are like u and dont.
the reason guys smoke is cause they think chicks dig that kinda stuff.

girls on the other hand, i dont know y they do it.

I can't stand smokers, especially smokers with kids, and even worse, pregnant mothers who smoke!
saw a documentery about how different women deal with their 1st prtegnancy, and one woman was going into labour, and she was smoking herself stupid! She kept saying ; "Gotta get as much nicotine into my system as possible..."
Honestly....

And smoking makes you look like a shriveled corncob.
That's Y people who smoke are messed up.
They think it makes them look good.
And whats so great about sucking smoke anyways?

 

Well, no not exactly. I didn't say I can't stand smokers themselves, just the act of smoking. I mean, it is your choice what you do with your body, but it's just a stupid one in my opinion.

Does everyone in Ireland smoke? But, I don't know how things work over there so I won't say anything like that. Exiz, you have a talent for being insolent.

 

we had this issue this summer..now theres no smoking in any of the area resturants..heres a qoute that i love : haveing a smoking section in a resturant is like haveing a peeing section in a pool it makes sense
