Inu-Yasha Kagome

Am I the only one who really likes Kagome? I don't just mean likes the InuKag pairing (or SessKag or whatever else), but I mean actually like Kagome? As in "favorite character"? From what I can tell, most people like the thought of InuKag, but they don't really like Kagome as a character all that much. Sango has so many people who are dedicated to only her, and while Kikyo has her haters, she also has a lot of die-hard fans. I've just been noticing that when I search for shrines or fan-listings or buddy icons that have to do with Kagome, I don't get much. Sesshy, Inu, Sango, Kikyo, even the Schinninti (I have no idea how to spell that) get more recognition then she does. So the question remains, are there any other fans of Kagome out there? I don't just mean InuKag though I like that as well, I mean Kagome by herself. Anyone?

 

hey, i like Kagome...but just not as a favorite character though. InuYasha takes the lead on that one. i don't know why Kagome isn't admired as much as other characters...personally, i'm just jealous of her, because she gets all the fun

 

yay! she has a fan! lol... but yah.. a lot of people seem to like her a little or else not like or dislike her. I suppose I should be happy because, unlike Kikyo, she doesn't have a mob full of bashers trying to kill her (dont worry Im not part of that mob). However I'd be very delighted if some people were nearly as dedicated to Kagome as some people are to Kikyo or Sango or whoever else. And what would be better is if those people had really good web talents (unlike me).

 

I like Kagome. I think she is a strong, capable young woman who is making the best of a very odd situation. It's not every day that you get hauled 500 years into the past and end up fighting demons and who knows what else.

I think the main difficulty in finding Kagome shrines is that so often she is set to one side, viewed as the other half of Inuyasha's love story. Whenever a character is simplified to a single trait like that it makes it difficult to relate. Personally, I think this is sad because while Inuyasha is the title character, Kagome really is the main character of the story.

At the same time, I don't know what I'd put on a webpage if I were to make on devoted to Kagome. In general I don't make character specific fansites. In fact, I only have one fansite (for Escaflowne) that I run at all, and I've neglected it horribly.

uhmm...there are many people that hate her...they say that she made them annoyed..! but personal I like her..! so u are not the one! ^_^

 

Yeah, I know Kagome has a lot of people who dislike her as well (usually the Kikyo fans).. but not as many as Kikyo. The whole reason I'm even asking isn't cuz of shrines and stuff like that (though there are times I wish i COULD find that sort of thing), I was just wondering if anyone out there was a huge fan of Kagome's, since she doesn't seem to have many. Shadowbard has a point, a lot of people do seem to see her as Inuyasha's love interest and not much else. Plus, I've noticed a lot of people don't tend to like the main female character in stories all that much, heck I don't even like the main female characters all that much usually. Dunno why I like Kagome.. but she's my fav! ^_^ Thanks for posting guys!

 

While I can't say as I'm a huge fan of hers (Sesshy's my absolute favorite), I really like her as a character too. She's a great heroine, who doesn't spend as much time whining (or eating, as some seem to do in excess), or shrieking to be saved (though she does a share of that), or whatever. She works to solve things when she can, and she uses her head. She's a great character.

Sorry you can't find fansites. If you're still looking for buddy icons and such, you can bring the topic up in the Art forum here, or ask any number of artsy people (I can make avatars and buddy icons for you). ^_^

 

lol... yay! I would try making the stuff myself... in fact I DO make the stuff myself, but it never comes out very well. I blame the fact that I have nothing more then Microsoft Paint to work with... but I think the real reason is that I'm just not great at it. But it is nice to know that a few people (even if she isn't their fave) like Kagome!

What's even sadder is... I didn't even know this place HAD an art forum! I have a mad obsession with Inuyasha... and not much else. I knew there were other animes here... but I never thought to look for an art forum or something of that sort. Oh well... I'm relatively new so I won't beat myself up too hard. ^_^

 

My favorite is sango(and maybe also Kikyou...hopes that u won't kill me! :sweat: ) and u already know that I don't hate Kagome..! I think the reason that so many hate her is...uhmm..that she's not too good to take care of herself...she will always call out for Inuyasha if she's in trouble...!^_~'

 

well, you gotta look at it from Kagome's point of view. She's captured by some demon who is much stronger and could easily kill her. if i was her, i would be calling for Inu Yasha to kick this demon's a$$. Besides, it's Inu Yasha...i would call for Inu Yasha ALL the time...heh, who wouldn't?

 

Well since we are basically talking about Kagome I'd like to ask one little question of all of you.

Do you think her skirt is magic?

SHe has gone through so many beatings and battles and whatnot..she's constantly riding on Inu's back at breakneck speed... and yet her skirt has not flown up ONCE. I think there's something funny about that...

 

Well, that's because the majority of female characters (in non-fanservice-laden anime, anyway) are intended to appeal to girls. And yet, many girls are drawn to the male characters - for obvious reasons. ~_^ Now, fangirls - and especially teenage fangirls - very often feel a level of resentment for the love interest of whichever character they think is cute. Most people aren't neutral about a given couple - they either love it or hate it. And when they hate it... generally, they'll tell you they really love the one character who's of the opposite gender, and dislike the character of the same gender as they are. It's jealousy, whether conscious or not.

Also, lead characters often aren't as original as the supporting cast. They're meant to have broad appeal, so they generally fit into one of a number of crowd-pleaser personality types. Rumiko Takahashi's leads are usually of the headstrong-but-kindhearted variety, which is likable but not terribly deep. They're easy to be neutral about, which goes a long way towards explaining why Kagome isn't on the top of too many people's favorites list.

Besides which, female leads who have male counterparts do tend to default into "damsel in distress" mode a little too often for my tastes.

 

She can break free if she would just carry her arrows with her. She doesn't do that very often, and I really wish she would, because the arrows are like bombs!

 

nah, i think her skirt is just a plain old skirt. that's just how some anime are **from what i've seen** Kagome ain't the only anime girl who has what appears to be a "magical skirt" that doesn't fly up in the wind, or get dirty.

 

yea, ive been thinking about that alot too! probably its a super gravity skirt! :anime: i like kagome, she is cute and brave(sometimes) and i love it when she yelles "sit"! i just think that in the manga Kagome is way prettier than in anime. However she is not as powerful as Kikyo is, and i cannot figure out why, as Kagome has the most of the soul.

 

Yes, Kagome has most of the soul. However, she was not trained from childhood to focus spiritual power, purify things, and generally do miko-like tasks the way Kikyo does. You also have to remember that, while Kagome is a reincarnation of Kikyo, she is not the same person. She will have different strengths and different weaknesses.

I think a lot of Kikyo's current power comes more from experience than from raw energy.

But yeah, it isn't really Kagome's fault that she can't fight as well as the rest of the Inuyasha gang. She was born and raised in modern day Tokyo, and weaponry isn't exactly part of a teenage girl's curriculum nowadays. If Kagome had lived her life out in fuedal Japan she'd probably have advanced her miko powers far more then they are now. Kagome's definitely brave; I know that if I woke up in fuedal Japan I'd run screaming from anything that came within ten feet of me.

 

I'm a fan of Kagome. she's sweet and she adds texture to the concept of the anime. I mean, Inuyasha wouldn't be Inuyasha without Kagome! of course, Sesshy has my place as favorite character, but Kagome's still awesome. in fact, there isn't really a character in the series I don't like...except Myoga (sp?) >.<

 

Kagome is my favorite female character. Kikyo is ok but Im not a big fan.
