if you don't understand someone's post, does that give you the right to give them negative karma? because i recently received negative karma for that reason..and i just wanted to know if you could do that. My points were on a "roll" and then they just got deducted because i told a joke that someone didn't understand. And i don't think that's fair. I wouldn't like any threads pulled up on this.

    thankies for your time!

Technically, yes. But, there needs to be a certain maturity in giving out Karma...which is probably why I don't give out karma myself too often. PM him with reasons why...but I don't think you can actually delete the karma handed out.

Karma should be distributed based upon a person's behavior on the boards. If they say or do something thoughtful or intelligent they should be awarded good karma, likewise if they say something that is in bad taste or do something that offends another they should be awarded bad Karma. Karma should not be distributed because you don't agree with someone else's point of view unless that PoV is particuarly offensive to you. Common sense should be the judge of Karma. Like Izzy I don't deal out very much Karma unless I feel that person really deserves it.

If you get some bad karma, so be it. It's not the end of the world. You'll get it back eventually. Just be sure to watch how you joke in the future.
