Hi. I take Kenjutsu, not formally though. I study Shotokan, an empty-handed Okinawan martial art at an actual dojo. It's learning to fight against the sword empty-handed, so it all fits in nicely anyway. ^_^ As far as Kenjutsu, my Dojo is someone's backyard, or the alley on the outskirts of downtown. Though I don't mind, Kenjutsu is Kenjutsu with or without a dojo, right? :)

that all depends on your view. yes any sword style is kenjutsu but are you able to control youself? the point of kenjutsu is not to control your opponent but to control yourself. a strike in blind rage will do you no good. you must respect you opponent as much as you respect anything else. a deul is an honorable thing. a quote i heard from a good friend is: "You might be strong, determined or even invincible, but you should always carry your sword with respect for the people aruond you including your opponent." this embodies the whole nature of Kenjutsu. yuou must also learn not to wield your sword in a Zen nature. then you are only doing things by instinct not by teachings.

well Kenjutsu isnt a style its just the art *ken=sword jutsu=technique* there are many arts. of Iaijutsu the only legit. school is Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryuu. most other schools are fake.

    *Wonders where Roxy Is?*
Well, I'm wondering, do any of you have your on waza? C'mon, I know you've all done it before! ^_^ Alot of people who don't even take Kenjustsu make thier own.

Btw: Waza are special techniques, your own moves.

*sighs at missing both gensai and Doa who were on at the same time* hehe

yes i have made a few...without my sensei tho...i think he would bend it too much adn make it back into the original technique he taught me...hes very crafty sometimes...but yes when i'm alone...i do it all teh time...and sometimes when in the fight...you have to adjust some of your techniques to fit your specific opponent but in plain and careful not to stary from teh topic...yes i do...^_~

yeah well im self taught so of course ^_~ anyway one of mine is rather hard to do but i had my friend do an overhead cut straight downward. then i turned my katana over and blocked with the butt cap and then swung forward to make a cut at his chest...well actually is a rough variation on something Kenshin did in his fight against Jineh

yes one of mine is when my opponent comes i wait to draw teh sword...like i was taught...and if they blovk it i'm suppose to apply a specific techinque where i move to the side and run by them low to the ground with my katana to teh side, blade towards the direction i'm going and it will cut the opponent in the stomach...but i've done alot of variations and one of them is the same as the original but afterward i twist aruond adn cut again on teh opponents back...

kenshin's hiten mitsurugi is quite a bit like mine...since Itto ryu focuses alot on the moment you draw your sword and teh first stroke of your sword...the point is obvious due to its name Itto "one stroke" or "one cut" and the point is to destroy your opponent with one cut...and i have been watching other styles long enough that i can predict my opponent's moves pretty well...

generally ive interpretted ittou as one sword...but id really have to see the Kanji...well anyway my best technique is just a simple Battou-jutsu focused on cutting with the uptmost precision ive taught myself to cut with as much presicion as possible...

yes in Itto Ryu style the creator believed that victory was in one stroke...and so precision is very important...

its the best way i think...when i first strated i had a nasty habit of waiting to observe all of my opponents moves first but i soon found out ti was much harder to win that way...although i never lsot i have come so close...
