I have read that argument on many places now and am going to explain to you why it's not a valid argument as the theory behind it is utterly impossible.

    Firstly
Inu Yasha doesn't owe Kikyo anything. He feels guilt over her death and that he was unable to protect her...but he was not the one that killed her as originally believed. As for going to hell with Kikyo...well...
He may have almost agreed to that once...he was kind of in some trance and beyond coherent thought...but then as you will also remember...he CHOSE life. He opened his eyes and CHOSE to go to Kagome instead of going to hell with Kikyo.
If he's so determined to pay Kikyo back with his life then why hasn't he just given up on the quest for the shikon jewel and thrown himself at Kikyo's mercy? Because he wants to avenge her death and he wants to defeat Naraku for her. He wants to be able to do this time around what he couldn't do the first time (which he kind of failed at again because Kikyo went and got herself killed in episode 124).

So just let Kikyo have Inu Yasha....she has his past and Kagome should have his future...right?
    Um, sorry...NO
    Okay, let's review...
When Kikyo died her soul was reincarnated FIVE HUNDRED (that's 5-0-0) years later. If/when Inu Yasha dies...do you really think that he'll just magically appear...at 15-25 years of age in Kagome's time? That's like, IMPOSSIBLE. He would have to be reborn first....and Kagome couldn't damn well have a relationship with an infant now could she? LOL. Even if Kagome aged 15 years...and was 30 and Inu Yasha turned 15...that would also be totally wrong. There are laws against that kind of thing nowadays! And waiting another 500 years...well that's kind of humanly impossible.

I believe Inu Yasha and Kagome were destined to meet. It was sheer fate at work. Kagome is Kikyo's soul reincarnated and is being given a second chance at love with the man she wronged in a previous life.Kikyo was never meant to be resurrected...that ultimately screwed everything uo (don't argue...you know it did). :p

Inuyasha feels guilty for his death because he believed he could've trusted her, and if he had trusted her, she would be alive. She wouldn't have meet the fate of her soul wandering around unable to break free of the haunted realm if Inuyasha trusted her. He feels guilty for that and even told it to Kagome herself. It wasn't because he wasn't able to protect her.

Inuyasha also said to himself, if it was their destiny, he would go to hell with her. But who knows what their destinys are.

When Inuyasha heard Kagome's voice and saw her being held back by Kikyou's soul skimmers, Inuyasha ran from Kikyou's arms and freed Kagome. At that time, which was in volume 8 (when Inuyasha hasn't fully 'matured' towards his thoughts between Kikyou and Kagome) he wanted to protect Kagome and prevent her from meeting the same fate as Kikyou. When he was in Kikyou's trance, he possibly didn't know anything. I don't think he even knew he was in Kikyou's arms.

I agree. The reason you see this around because most fans are trying to be creative in thinking of an ending.

I also believe Kagome and Inuyasha were destined to meet. If not, there would be no story.

But I would have to disagree with Kikyou never supposed to be ressurrected. Tell Urasue that. She was the ogre who brought Kikyou back to life. Kikyou never wanted to be brought back to life. I don't think it ruined everything. If Kikyou was never ressurected, the tale between Naraku and Inuyasha probably wouldn't be brought to the story. Kikyou switches the love triangle between her, Kagome and Inuyasha around. It makes it more interesting. If Kikyou was never there, Inuyasha would have a swell relationship with Kagome and everything will end up overused. Not the type of romance I would want to read. I wouldn't enjoy the series as much as I do now.

You might want to label the episode 124 as a spoiler.
