    I like Kikyo a lot, and I'm a little confused about Kikyo's behavior when she's revived, why does she still want to kill Inu-Yasha, even though she found out who had really killed her?

    Well, I'm no Inuyasha guru, but I'll take a stab at this...

    In many myths and legends, the dead are considered to be vengeful, angry spirits, ruled by the emotion that was strongest at the time of their death. Kikyo died thinking that Inuyasha had betrayed her, and it was that hatred which sustained her revived form and gave her a purpose. Even after learning of the deception, she was still bitter. Nothing could change the fact that she had died - her life had been cut short before she had ever had the chance to live a normal life.

    Basically, much of her resentment towards Inuyasha stems from the fact that he was able to live, and move on. He was still able to enjoy life without her. Despite his lasting feelings for her, Kikyo could never have that.

    I'd imagine that her logic probably goes something like, "If I can't be happy and live a normal life, I want him to experience death as I did." *shrug* But then again, I've only taken a moderate interest in the show.

    That's actually very good reasoning, Dilandau. I believe I recall mention in the series that Kikyo is essentially hate incarnate, that she drew all of Kikyo's old hate from Kagome when Urasue tried to transfer Kikyo's soul from Kagome's body to the Kikyo doll (did that even just make any sense?). Since Kikyo's soul was full of hate when she died, it's full of hate in her afterlife too. Yes, she does show compassion to many of the people she travels with, but that doesn't mean she can't be hate incarnate. There's just something good in her still. She's hateful and angry, but she's still the resurrection (not reincarnation, because that's Kagome) of a good miko.

    Yes it did, and that would certainly be logical. After all, a bit of the soul remained inside her and sustained the clay body Urasue made for her. (As I'm sure everyone recalls, it wasn't conscious without a soul inside it.)

    Japanese spirits aren't nearly as clearly defined as those in some other cultures when it comes to their being good or evil. You're right that Kikyo could indeed be almost pure hatred, but clinging to a shred of her former self which would allow her to feel compassion and affection for others. After all, her vengefulness isn't general, it's specifically directed at Inuyasha. Why shouldn't she be able to react with kindness to others?

    Besides, when a love turns sour, that's just about the nastiest form of rage out there. ^^;
