    Okay this is a real question despite the weird heading.

    I don't know what Knives' story in the manga is (it seems everyone on line had the brilliant idea of translating volume one and then leaving the other 8-9 odd volumes un- or partially translated). But in the anime, do you all feel his 'loosing it' was ever well explained or justified? I've seen all of the series, and yet I've never felt that this was well explained.

    it's as complete as some anime explanations get. but no, it doesn't really go into why he gets all pissy at humans. he just decides to think opposite everything vash thinks and believes. the show almost makes it look like a couple of kids fighting over who's better. lol never thought of that till now. heck, they don't even explain legato attaching vash's arm on. from the manga pics i have, he really likes that arm. a little too much me thinks! *^-^*

    *LOL* Ne, Bloodberry, you should just see the treatment that arm gets in some fan fiction out there ^_^. Seriously, though, you raise an interesting point about Vash and Knives behaving like two kids trying to "one up" each other. I think the only real reason for Knives' 'snap snap crackle popness' may be the abuse he suffered at the hands of Steve. However, I find this a cliche reason so I'm hoping that's not all the creators had in mind.

    tho, that really wasn't much abuse in the show. prolly more in the books maybe? Or maybe he's just a little jaded or something towards vash. i mean, rem did spend the vast majority of her time with vash. a jealosy could have formed and was just aimed at the fact his brother wasn't spending time with him, but with these humans. <cough> umm...just humans in gernal...that sounds wierd...T-T

    (and i've seen a little of some of the fan fic...tho most was vash and wolfwood "boy" love stuff...funny tho...the images..lol)

    *L* the Smothers Brothers routine of "Mom likes you best!" comes to mind....

    Perhaps he was just born evil, like so many humans seem to be. Either that or his logical mind lead him to believe this. I've been reading a fascinating book lately called "Evil" which states that evil acts (the Holocaust, the horrors of Stalinist Russia, etc.) occured not because their perpetrators were self-pitying men and women with low self esteem, but because they thought very highly of themselves and felt that they were justified in taking such actions. I think this modern definition of evil suits Knives very well. He feels justified in killing humans. IT's not just a mindless prejudice for him, either. He's lived with humans and seen how they behave. And the more he sees and learns of their behavior, the more he loathes them.

    Ahh...i can follow that...and his logic says, that they are violent and useless beings there fore, purge. so, he's more self taught evil more than anything. that makes sense.

    Self-taught evil and highly rational evil. He has several reasons for his desire to annihilate humanity, and some of them are actually fairly sound arguments (o_O;;; not that I agree with him, but his logic is certainly not haphazard, overly emotional or just plain nonexistant).

    What interests me is how his evil really relates to Vash. At times, he seems to want to truly convince Vash that his perceptions of reality and human nature are the right ones. And at other times, he seems simply to want to dominate his brother and force his opinions onto him just because he can and not because he wants to prove a point to anyone. Thoughts?

    if you mean that he only speaks when milk is poured on him...it'd think about staying away from those hentai sites for a bit..lol j/k*^-^*;;

    and again, the rationalized evil is like the child logic. it may not lead to the right conclusion, but it is the right process.his logic is right for the answer he has. why waste time changing something when you can just get rid of it and remove the problem entirly?
