Ahh...if there was ever a company that knew how to choose voice actors, it was FUNIMATION. Well, actually, put it all on present tense, and thats good news.

Kodocha is the brand new series Funimation has brought to the table that has a variety of voice actors. Most voices recognized from Fruits Basket and Yu-Yu-Hakusho.

Sana Kurata is an elementary school who is part of the cast of the hit tv series "Kodocha" (or "Child's Toy" in english translation).
She's clueless, and at the same time she's always hyper. Not to mention that one every episode so far, Sana actually sings for a bit, which i actually am not complaining about. Laura Bailey (DBZ, Yu-yu-Hakusho, Fruits Basket) puts in a lot of work for this role, and i commend her for it. She has made Sana's performance by far my favourite one, next to Alex Louis Armstrong (Fullmetal Alchemist).

And Sana, like all girls (not really..) has a nemesis in her class who she happens to call the Monkey Leader (due to the fact that his "lackeys" behave like so in her point of view), and his name is Akito (no, not that mean one from Fruits Basket).
THIS Akito is played by Jerry Jewell, who also plays the sly detective Jimmy Kudo and the Phantom Thief Kid in Case Closed, his voice seems a bit too deep for a 12-year-old kid.

All in all, there's many different neat voices (like that of John Burgmeier's Shigure from Fruits Basket, or that one nerdy kid from Fullmetal Panic...you know, the one with glasses that hangs out with Souske). But other than that, the combined talent is all centered on that bratty 12-year old girl who mostly everyone in Japan knows.
The show IS funny, at least to me. And its very enjoyable to watch things play out and hear Bailey's superfast voice talking that i cant even catch up to, and Rei-kun's safe driving.

    Anyone else seen this Anime?

    I'd say this:

Read the manga. It's the best thing I have ever read in my entire life (Besides several other things).

Hey Kaiyon, you took my thread!XD

    Thank you!

But really, the manga IS that great.

At first sight, from the Manga's First cover, it really seemed like some "rocker wtf!?" story, but it turned to be completly different.

However, the DVD Cover (sorry for the small pic, internet has nothing! I'll scan it from my DVD copy as soon as i can) looks more like the story.

I think both Anime AND Manga are great. So far no favourite, since only two DVD's (only a total of 8 episodes, wah!) have been released. And I don't like the Japanesee Dubbing compared to english dub (first time for everything!).

This anime is great, and it's getting greater here in the US. But 102 episodes to be released on DVD is a lot of time to wait. Guess we're gonna have to ,even though I finished the manga, the Anime has a lot more things to reveal.

For those that read the manga:
We learned the truth about Sana's real mother, but in the Anime, her FATHER's also shown. Not only that, but there's also extras like Sana and Naozumi taking a trip to the US together!

Impressive how much a Shoujo Anime can own.

    I FREAKING LOVE THIS MANGA!!
I've never seen the anime but I love the manga.
I've forgotten all about it, I haven't read it since 2 years ago.
Sana gets to met her father!??? Now I have to see that.
The ending is kind of sad but it's a definite must people, a definite must!

Oh, I kind of had a question on the ending:
The last person that Sana and Akito go to, they only show part of her face. Is that supposed to be her real mom asking for help? Or is it just a nobody?
I also noticed that most of us said about the manga. What about anime? Any viewers? Sub, or Dub?

I myself am watching the anime right now. I'm buying the DVD's for the DUB's, since quite frankly, is the greatest DUB ever. Sadly, only 1 DVD per 2 months, and only 4 episodes per DVD. No matter, each DVD is very much worth it. Each episode is full of fun, drama, sensless but funny comedy, and of course, "Sana's Songs".

The thought of it sounds weird. Someone singing in Anime, but she pulls it off quite exellent!

    It's just a nobody.
It's not meant to be anybody special, just a girl who need help.

Whew, thanks. Had to get that off my chest. I just hope the ending's a bit different in the anime. Although satisfying, I still thought it needed something....
