Last Issue....

I just finished reading #12 of BotP. I have to say, I really enjoyed this series. It brought back some really good childhood memories.

I have one comment though---Is it just me or did this issue leave a HUGE open ender to keep this story going????


By the way, when I went to my comic store, I came across a paper trade back of classic Battle of the Planets Vol. 1. It is a pretty thick book, I havent started it yet, but has anyone heard of this one??

The trade paperback could be the book of the comics from 1979, which they've put into one big volume. It's a bit different to this year's comic

 

That is what this one is. I will let the gang know how this is once I breeze through it.

Hey Vic,

I picked that up a few months ago as well. I'll be curious to know what you think. Had you ever read the old comics? I actually have some of them, and it's definitely a far cry from where the comics are now.

BTW, I'm very disappointed that Zark did not make an appearance in the TC comics. I know they had him as a doll in the Witchblade crossover, but I wanted the real Zark.

So who do you think the custodian is. And we never did find out who the guy is at the church, huh?

I havent gotten the crossover yet--I still need to get some missing issues of BotP. My comic collection got messed up for a while so I am in the process of replacing my missing issues.

VOLUME ONE.......

I have finally finished this trade-back of BotP. I have to say, being a comic buff, it was really weird at first. After reading the current version, the old one reminded me of the old serials that keep you hanging till you turn the page.

I never read the original back in the 70's, but they were actually very good. Considering the far jump from present day books. Over-all, I would recommend this tradeback to all Battle fans.

P.S. Mark--I am getting the WitchBlade crossover today. I will let you know my reviews after I read it.

 

Hey Mark,

I thought the Witch Blade crossover was very good. I like the way they intermixed to two story lines.

P.S---I think we will find out about the man in the church when the story continues in the next arc. Also--this custodian reminds me a lot of the guardians from the Green Lantern series. I think this character is going to be a big part of the next arc as well.

So did you read the last series? What did you think of the final issue?

I just discovered more then halfway throught the Battle of the Planets
comic that it was too violent to keep reading so I'm returning
some of the stuff I have and I'm glad I did.
The series was cancelled after issue 12 when it was suppost to run
until 18 sooooo you never find out what happens.

Reading about the feedback.(by the way this site is great)
The fans must have hated the series.
Sales had plunged all the way from 3rd to 91st place but
yet the reviewer complained about not finishing the story.
But you can't have it both ways. If the sales were
good it might have stayed around. The company cut its loses.
I fell sorry for Alex Ross. He put a lot of work into it.
The story did one thing that threw me for a loop.

Mark and Zoltar get into a fight and Zoltar starts shooting
lightning beams out his hands.
Since when did he go over to the Dark Side?
Anyway the comic had some great techno stuff.
The eye pieces on their helmets acting
Like extra camera eyes with the display showing up
inside the helmet.
I don't think that was in the show.

Anyway I'm still keeping my BOTP/Thundercats crossover.

I do have to say, Roe, that the person running Home of the White Shadow is extremely biased against Munier Sharrieff, who wrote the "Battle of the Planets" comic for Top Cow. The individual took every opportunity to take cheap shots at Munier on other message boards whenever the opportunity presented itself. I would not give those reviews too much merrit at all. Most people actually liked the stories. There was a very vocal minority to make it seem like more people felt there way.

I did find it odd that she slammed
the comic but whined about not finishing

I enjoyed the story though it dragged in places.

Can understand the dissenters up to a point though...

What did they expect? Canon? We were warned it would be a little different, werent we?

 

Yes. That's why readers had to keep an open mind, which I did and was able to enjoy it. Some people just didn't and complained complained complained.

I was really sorry to see it end at 12.
