Yeah, I saw End of Eva a while back. The subs were crap though so I didn't pay much attention to the whole thing.

 

Speaking of the End of Evangelion, watched it yet Lex?

 

Yes, I "watched" it. God damn, subtitles from hell and while I sorta enjoyed it I kinda got pissed off at its over blown "plotline"

Why couldn't they let it stay like the early episodes and stick to a more straightforward story?

 

The first half, Seele's invasion, Asuaka's fight with the Eva series etc., was very good IMO. The second half, without good subtitiles at least, was hard to fathom. I did kinda like the entire 'Rei being the giant angel of death' theme but they should have cut out some of the aspects pretaining to the inside of Shinji's mind, and the 'live action' scenes of people walking the streets and filling and emtpying a cinema were just pointless.

I agree half ways with you Lex. In most epic storie situations, (like every godamn final fantasy EVAR!) we see the plot turn into another over blown "Save the world!!!1" escapade.

While EoE was certainly over the top..it was unique in that Shinji was really on a personal quest. He wasnt doing it to save the planet (In fact, in my opinion..I think he destroyed it). The insights into human relationships were amazing. Certainly changed my out look on alot of things.

Mecha and action is one thing, but serious psychoanalysis is another. You gota love them both for what they are. And Eva hits them both spot on.

Oh you just have to see it Obey the Fist....it's one of Anime's most beautiful creations....sigh....I get all dreamy just thinking about it.

I'd try for a sub, but I know how difficult good subs aretto find. I didn't mind the AD Vision dub on the series that much but apparently AD Vision had a falling out with Gainax (or so I read at least) and the End of Eva dub will be done by Manga US. I got the offical dub of Death and Rebirth (done by Manga) and a few of the voices are different and, IMO, not as good. There is also less 'energy' in the English voices than in the Japanese, especially with the more intensive scenes.

 

Thursday the 24th's episode was a bit crap.
Yuji might as well have been a totally different character, in the space of one episode his attitude has totally changed.
Trash.

It's not on TV in the US as far as i know.
