    Freakin' hilarious!
The Know It All stereotype reminds me of a girl that I once knew, who thought she was an expert on Brazil because she went there for a week in the summer and was taking Portuguese lessons at school.
With all this difficulty about Japanese, why not take Spanish instead?

Curses! "it had to be done", and I was just about to. I guess if it's obvious enough it's obvious to other people too.

    [LANGUAGE PROFESSOR MODE ON! [IMG]]
I noticed that a lot of Japanese words seem to be stolen from the English language, and since English takes many of its words from Latin, Latin-based languages and from German, I've come up with the following analogy:
Latin, Latin-based languages and German are the linguistic equivalent of the Backstreet Boys. They're the originals, and remember that.
Now, some time later, English comes along, and copies everything that the formerly mentioned languages do, their style, their sound, their attitude, if you will. Therefore, English is the language that most compares to N*Sync, the first in a long line of rip-offs.
Finally, we come to Japanese. Not the whole language in general, mind you, but rather the modern spin-off that includes words like "pantsu" and "purazuma". This use of the style and type of another language/boyband, in this case English/N*Sync, that is basically just a carbon-copy of another language/boyband causes Japanese to be forever the O-Town of languages: having the potential to exist on its own, but instead riding the coat-tails of others as a second-generation rip-off.
To conclude, Latin, Latin-based, and German = BSBoys, English = N*Sync, Japanese = O-Town. This concludes today's lesson in Worthless Metaphors 101, have a nice day.
    [LANGUAGE PROFESSOR MODE OFF! [IMG]]

Sorry about that, but my sisters and I came up with that on the weekend, and I figured I'd share it wit' y'all.

I wonder what my teachers would say if I told them my lowest mark was in N*Sync ...

GentatsuNoZanshi cc61\'s essay is interesting. Lately, we import lots of words from English. I found many English words when I learn how to use computers... It confuses me and more elderly people. Lol:)

    ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, it really made me laugh :p

But yeah he's right. Pronouns? What's that?

ON the other hand, I think Japanese grammar is very well designed. For example, when my mom calls me from downstairs
    she says something like

"RICK!!! COULD YOU PLEASE come down in here and bring me the thingy which is below the red blah blah that I told you?"

Unfortunately, she lowers her volume as time passes.

    So I hear something like

"RICK!!! Could YOU PLEASE come down in here nd brng m t thng whc shshsh bl..... ...... you?"

    And I say "WHAT!?!?!?"

    "I SAID!!!!!!!!! COULD YOU PLEASE b.dfas.. .. ...... you?"

    And I say "I DIDN'T HEAR YOU!"

And she says "COME DOWN HERE DAMMIT!!!" all infuriated!

    ================

And now.... what would happen if we spoke jap?

RICK THINGY DOWN RED THING come kitchen PLEASE?

    And I would say

    I THERE DOWN COMING!

    Ta-da!!!

Japanese grammar to the rescue!! (applause) :p

Hm...y'know, this is pretty funny, but not because of all the mean "joke" comments. (Oh come on -- no one would joke that intensely if it were just a joke -- at least, I wouldn't think so...maybe it's my cultural background that makes me think this way...)

The funniest thing about this essay was all the errors it had in it: spelling, grammar, punctuation... where have all these gone? I sincerely believe that that is the real joke here.

Then again, it could just be me...
