Anime Least favorite anime couples

What are your least favorite anime couples?

Vegeta/Bulma (DBZ) Not many DBZ fans dislikle this couple but I do.

Inuyasha/Kikyo (Inuyasha) I think they were such a boring couple.

That's all I can think of. Who are your least favorite couples?

 

I dislike many of the fanon couples that people come up with - couples that are wildly popular, but which have no grounding in the canon material and don't make sense for the characters. The examples are too many to list them all, but I think everyone can think up at least one pairing like that.

I don't particularly like Kenshin and Kaoru, for one... Kaoru never interested me very much.

Honestly, though, I can't think of too many couples that I really disliked from the anime I've seen. :/ Maybe it's just that a lot of what I've watched wasn't terribly romance-themed, and when it was, the couple was tolerable.

 

Tamahome and Miaka from Fushigi Yugi. I know it's one of the most popular cannon couples in the whole series, but I can't stand them together. I mean, he cheats on her, gets brainwashed and tries to kill her, and then he tells her that he doesn't love her. He got on my nerves so bad. On the other hand, I love Miaka for some reason. Maybe I'm just weird. :sweat:

 

There are a few that I really don't like. There's:


Inu-Yasha/Kagome (Inu-Yasha): An extremely cliched couple, all they ever do is bite each others' heads off and are both very immature. I mean, it was funny at first, but then it just got REALLY old.

Usagi/Mamoru (Sailor Moon, anime version only): in the anime version, they just drive me insane. Usagi's so hard on Mamoru, and Mamoru just allows her to be as such. Everyone complains on how mean Mamoru is, but I think Usagi's the true bully when they're dating. Shame on her, I say!!! They're much, much better in the manga though.

Goku/Chi-Chi (DBZ): Chi-Chi's way, way too hard on Goku, and he can't even stand up to her anyway, so why bother to stay married?

Kenshin/Kaoru (Rurouni Kenshin): Kaoru's too self-centered and pushy for Kenshin, and he actually takes the abuse. Not a very healthy relationship.

Sonic/Amy (Sonic X): Amy's so annoying, and can't accept the fact that Sonic's not in love with her... Enough said.

Usagi/Seiya (Sailor Moon): A VERY overrated couple, everyone thinks they're the ideal couple... Usagi and Mamoru are meant to be in the story, NOT Usagi and Seiya. Accept it.

Tenchi/Sakuya (Tenchi in Tokyo): Sakuya's just so whiny, childish, and so clingy to Tenchi that she won't allow him to visit his own family. Also, I don't really think of them as really being in love. It was more of a puppy love. Tenchi's relationship with Ryoko seemed more like a real love.

Bulma/Yamcha (Dragon Ball): Bulma was just so mean to Yamcha before she fell for Vegita! She pushed him around, and he wouldn't stand up to her! I'm glad they didn't marry, or else Bulma would have NEVER matured.

That's all I can think of right now. I just can't stand couples who abuse one another, or ones that are too highly overrated.

 

Tamahome doesn't cheat on her on purpose. Yui kissed him by force and if I was branwashed I would kill someone I loved because you don't know what's happening. Besides, because they were in love Tamahome gets unbrainwashed. He tells her he doesn't love her because He knew that they couldn't be together and tried to do what was best for them. WEIRDO!!

 

I actually got very frustrated with the Tamahome/Miaka relationship as well - there was too much drama and angst for my tastes, and I liked Tamahome a lot better before he got all sappy on Miaka. XD But I don't really care that much either way.

I find most of Rumiko Takahashi's main couples - Inuyasha/Kagome, Ranma/Akane, Ataru/Lum etc. - to be too similar to hold my interest. I know I've said this before, several times, but she reuses old themes so often that I just can't look at a new main couple's drama, quarrels, sparse moments of true romance and so on and not go, "...Oh, I've seen this scenario before. *yawn*"

Allen/Millerna or Allen/Hitomi (Escaflowne) I also dislike - but my reasoning there is simply that the relationships weren't meant to be, as is eventually shown in the anime. Allen was compensating for the loss of his sister, and Millerna and Hitomi were both basically just crushing on him. They also both become somewhat disillusioned with him when they start to find the cracks in his "perfect man" exterior. (Not that I don't like Allen - his flaws are what make him interesting!)

 

Kagome/Sesshomaru(Inuyasha). Honestly, I must've missed the point in the series where these two talked to each other for longer then a three second timespan since the Kagome/Sesshomaru pairing is now officially more respected (on one of my favorite fansite polls anyhow...and on ff.net for that matter) then the Inuyasha/Kagome pairing.

Canon pairings? Ranma/Akane(Ranma 1/2) never really struck my fancy though they're tolerable, and I was never a huge Yuki/Tohru(Fruits Basket) fan either though eventually....well I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it .

 

Sesshoumaru/Rin (Inuyasha) -- just...disgusting. it's wrong on so many levels. even if she "gets older", that's still rather nasty considering she spent her childhood with this guy when he was an adult and then they become lovers? I don't think so. (don't think he'd fall in love with her anyway, I see it as a father and daughter relationship)

Sakaki/Chiyo (Azumanga Daioh) -- I have seen people support this pairing. I mean, yeah, they get along well, but in the end they wouldn't make a good couple. Chiyo's a tad too young for Sakaki in my opinion.

Sakaki/Kaorin (Azumanga Daioh) -- it's obvious that Kaorin is madly in love with Sakaki, but they don't seem anything alike. Kaorin is ever so social and idolizes Sakaki but she's quiet and keeps to herself. it's not a good pairing.

Vash/Meryll *or however the hell you spell her name, too many variations* (Trigun) -- she's too uptight and he's too wild. simply won't work out in the long run.

Vicious/Julia (Cowboy Bebop) -- Vicious just doesn't seem like the person to really fall in love with a person for who they are. Julia belongs with Spike, in my opinion. even when they were a couple they probably weren't too happy together.

Inuyasha/Kikyo (Inuyasha) -- I honestly don't see how they really got along, even before the betrayal. they just don't seem too compatible. I think Kikyo would go much better with Sesshoumaru.

Ash/Misty (Pokemon) -- WTF OH SNAP THAT *****!!! ;_;

 

Bunny & Mamoru (Sailor Moon): I just thought it was all annoying. First they hate each other, then they find out there destined for each other, he forgets, her remembers, he tried ot protect her by braking up with her, He dissapears (for the bagilienth time) and she starts up with another guys who's a chick some times (not that I have anything against the Lesbian stuff), and last but not least, the worst result of any couple, ChibiUsa. I just hate her.

InuYasha & Kagome (InuYasha) : I'm just sick and tired of them agruing and then just hiding the fact that they love each other. Kikyo's better for him, anyway.

Kiba & Cheza (Wolf's Rain): This is a bit different. I actually think they're persict for each other as a couple. Keba's a jerk, and Cheza, well, she's just to stupid. They're one of my least fav couples mearliy cause I dont like them.

Athren and that songstress girl (cant remember her name) (Gundam Seed): I cant explain why. It's just odd.

 

Ah, yes... >_> Don't you just love pairings like those? Utterly unsupported by the canon material, the characters' personalities, or anything else for that matter. I have the same problem with Dilandau/Hitomi - which seems to be the second most popular Esca pairing on FF.net. But then, I've already ranted up a storm about that elsewhere. XD

On the subject of fanon or semi-canon pairings, though...

Seto/Jonouchi (Yu-Gi-Oh!): Stupid pairing. Largely based on the dog/master idea, which is why I dislike it. It makes for good comedy, but not much else. I can't see the characters as very compatible at all - they would constantly be fighting. And yet there also isn't anything to support them as a violent, angsty, or abusive pairing - it's basically all just jokes and humiliation. I can't understand the immense popularity of a pairing that has very little going for it besides it's potential to be sort of humorous.

Seto/Shizuka (Yu-Gi-Oh!): This is just... no. And it's seemingly the only het pairing for Seto that turns up in doujinshi, besides female versions of characters who are male in the canon stuff, or Black Magician Girl hentai. XP (My preference for yaoi aside, I just do NOT see any reason why Shizuka is a good match for Seto.)

Claus/Lavie (Last Exile): I see a sibling/friend relationship between these two, and that's it. There's nothing wrong with married-the-girl-next-door scenarios, but I don't see it happening here. Their relationship just feels very familiar and non-romantic to me, and any attempts I've seen to pair them up in fanfics have felt like a desperate must have teh romance!!1! attempt on the part of the authors.

Alex/Claus (Last Exile): Err... no. I actually don't really support Alex-pairing at all, given certain canon info that I won't spoil at this point, and I definitely don't see any grounds for him to be with a male character, particularly Claus.

Nuriko/Miaka (Fushigi Yuugi): Nuriko is gay, goddamnit. Any feelings on his part for Miaka are the result of her being the Miko - it seems that ALL the seiryuu are drawn to their miko regardless of preference.

 

I didn't like Kaoru and Kenshin either. Tomoe all the way. >_< Vahn and Hitomi always bothered me, there are people SO much better out there for a person like Vahn. Hitomi's just too upset herself. Too many problems.

 

To give an update on Kenshin and Kaoru, I like them better in the manga. The anime still annoys me though.


Here's some others I can think of:


Kagome/Koga: Koga annoys me, and I think they're just, well, dumb together.

Jimmy & Rachel (Case Closed): Once more, a very cliched couple. Rachel acted like such a BRAT and a hypocrite. Jimmy's better off as Conan.

Yusuke/Keiko (Yu Yu Hakusho): Cliched, cliched. Keiko's too jealous and acts like a spotless goody-goody. As for Yusuke, well, I don't pay much attention to this show anyway.

 

Inuyasha/kugome I Think They Whould Go The Best Expeshuly The Way Inuyasha Feels For Her Dam Hes Lukey To Be A Anima Carecter Dam Him Inuyasha

 

As far as fan created couples go, I dont like:

Goku/Bulma, I just cant see these two together. They dont seem to have anything in common.

Sesshomaru/Rin, I cant see Sesshomaru falling for Rin.

 

For real - I always thought it should have been Tasuki and her...keh! And the OAVs?! Oh man - I almost sh*t myself - I was like "yay!" its about time he fesses up! **even if he was being controlled**
Taka/Miaka - WTF? This new guy comes along (Tamahome's reincarnatit) and they spend a couple weeks together and she picks him over Tama??? WTF!!! I spend DAYS watching the two of them go through so much crap and Taka just waltzes in - no powers - total 'i love you miaka' geek
Inuyasha/Kagome - just got done watching the whole series and the movies - the movies were good, it summed up the relationship so much faster than the series. sheesh. i mean wading through all those battle episodes waiting for a "suki dai yo" or even a "ski"........something!!!
Hiro/Raelina (Gundam Wing) - lame
Momo/Tohi - lame (only one thing to say - MMMMMM!!! KILEY!!!)

Pai/that scary blonde demon guy (3x3 eyes) - they were engaged? WTF? (reminds me of Rin and Sesshomaru)

 

kaoru and Kenshin, in my opinion, the worst couple ever :anger2:
its too typical that they fall in love with eachother, and kaoru is seriously an annoying, loudmouth, violent selfish, little girl, I do not see how Kenshin fell in love with her at all

Actually there's more evidence to it than just the dog and master thing.
For starters, do you notice how kaiba rarely ever gives anyone else a second glance (besides Yuugi who he of course acknowledges as a rival and challenge and blah blah blah)? So why does he bother teasing and annoying Jounouchi if he thinks he's such a crap *** duelist? Why doesn't he just ignore him like he does everybody else? What makes Jounouchi worth his attention?
Also remember the dream Jounouchi had? (no not the one with the 'bow before your master' stuff) The one after he got struck by the fake Ra card rishid was using? that dream was supposed to have everyone that important to Jounouchi's life in it. Kaiba was in it. Kaiba's presence of course angers Jounouchi and in a way makes him strife to become a better duelist and yada yadda...
But did you realize that when kaiba called Jounouchi a bonkotsu no duelist...that jounouchi was blushing?
It certainly wouldn't be my favorite couple just for 'humorous' reasons. And it's not just on the dog/master idea. i never use the dog/master idea in my yaoi Joukai fanfictions no way...
You should really read some of the sites that analyze this couple dilandau. ^^ I never liked it till I did. Checkmate's a good, it analyzes a lot of KaibaX? couples and tells which ones are most likely....

As for least favorite anime couples...

Ichigo and Masaya.
I hate this couple because i'm a IchigoxRyou fan. The ichigo Masaya apiring is just well...really freaking obviously and a bit too...happy happy mush for me. The Ryou and Ichigo one is greta because...Ryou seems to have a weird way of showing he likes her. ^^

 

miaka and tamahome. miaka's so.... i don't know... just wanna wring her neck.
kagome and inuyasha. kagome pisses the hell out of me!
kaoru and kenshin. ....
cheza and kiba. kiba should die alone.
