Video Games Legaia 2, like or dislike?

I just got Legaia 2 today. The reason being is I have not had a new PS2 game since getting Grand Theft Auto 3. And have not played a RPG since Final Fantasy IX. I am a old school RPG fan and FFX did not attract me at all, so I never bought it. I also loved the first one: Legend of Legaia and have been waiting for this sequel for sometime now.
I have only played 90 min of it so far and it is ok. I can see why gamespot only gave it a 7 out of 10. Can someone tell me have all RPG makers gave up on the walking on the map thing and facing foes and leveling up? Cus in this one there is still have a map except you just point to where your character goes and he is there.
I just also wanting to get anyone else's thoughts on this game. Also does anyone know of any good upcoming PS2 RPGs coming out, other than Final Fantasy games?

 

RPGs? I've got'em all!

I played Legend of Legaia and bought Legaia 2 recently. The first game was deep and good so I was encouraged to get the sequel. I can't say I've actually played it. All I saw from the game were the intro and few minutes of the begining when you get to name the hero. (Hey! You can't play and baby sit at the same time, can you?) Well the hero (Lang) kind of reminds me of Vahn, the earlier hero, only difference is that Lang TALKS!
Well until I play further through the game I can't give any valuable judgement. BUT anout the rpgs, well since I'm overgoing a shopping mania , lemme tell you a thing or two. You've gotta get Kingdom hearts, Suikoden 3 and Wild arms 3, other games are Grandia Extreme, Dark Alliance and Shadow hearts. Of course all these games are in full 3 d, can't expect to fing old school rpgs on good ol' PS2, now can we?
But you know what? I kinda like those 2D games myself. This may seem odd, but I like the first six final fantasies more than the later four. Hmm... I wonder why?

So do not read if you do not want to know about events in Legaia 2.

Well I am on day three, I think, of nothing else better to do than play this game. The girl in this game, Maya (not main character) that you get is so annoying, she can't talk she can't attack. The only thing she can do is cure you. I am also at annoying part of the game, which is the sewers. Well actually I am just about to past the sewers into some ruins that are not any better. I am starting to think why I bought the game. Well I read on gamefaqs.com that i should have patience and she will be able to talk and attack sometime soon, but it is not soon enough....rrrrrrrrr

Aight...here goes! Later on in the game, after you return to the castle, you have to fight a demon. It reminds her of a memory so powerful, not only does she get vocalage back, she learns the use of magic. I believe she gets about 5 blocks when she obtains teh magico. She can do mad strong shizzle and comes in VERY handy. PS Stos, dont give up...you're almost there....

yeah i think that it will be a good game i liked the first one but i'm stuck at this one boss where you have to split into three groups and blow up soom big monster.
i keep getting killed at the first battle, the boss. where Gala fights alone.
i think its called frost ravene or something like that.

 

I am back

If anyone has realized I have had a week or more absence from this forum. I was getting really bored of posting here or just looking around this forum, so I took a break. I also had to FFR my PC it was being weird and did not want to connect to the internet via my DSL modem.


Anyway I am now 25 hours in the game and it is really cool now. Each of my characters are at level 41 too. I have also been giving the game a break every so often.

I am at the part where I just discovered that Sharon is the Captain of a pirate ship...big surprise (not). Now I am going into a cave to get this wind thing so that the pirate ship will move. I am a little stuck right now. I went to this cave once before I was supposed to and went as far as I could. Now I am there again this time I am supposed to be there, but I can not get any further without getting a 2nd stone of somekind to put in these things that stop the electricity/lightning and allows me to go further. I noticed a path where I could go further but it looks like I need the fifth character in the game to move this block. Anyone know what I am supposed to do?
