Lemony Snickets, A Series of Unfortunate Events

This movie wasn't that great. It wasn't bad, but the books were a lot better.

The movie only was off the three books, it took the first book and cut in in half showing the last part of the first book at the end of the movie. Iwould give this movie a 3.5 out of 5.

There was some things that were way differnt that the books also, but that is what happens when you take a book and turn it into a movie.

If you have seen this movie, what did you think about it?

I think Jim Carrey kind of ruined the seriousness of the movie because in the book it didn't have any funny moments.
I though it was pretty good.
I agree that the books are better.
It seems like the books are always better.

In that he did...but his comical performance was outstanding. Who needs seriousness when Jim Carey is on the movie!?

I watched the clips of the movies and saw Jim and thought Count Oalf wasn't funny, but he did an okay job in the movie. I didn't like Aunt J. I got it in the movie when she said all the things about the stove and the door handle, but when it happened it was wierd, was se suppost to be telepathic?

Bah, there both bad. I'd rather see the movie than read past the second book. The books are repetitive rubbish. Cange the name, change the setting; Lemony Snicket book.

I enjoyed the the visual style, and it had a few moments that made me laugh, even if the speaking baby thing did get a little irritating. I've never read the books but I don't think putting three of them into one movie really worked too well. Instead of one story that builds up to a climax, we get a series of three build-up and climaxes that just don't work... so you get three very watered down stories with next to no detail or emotions in them.

With all the hype that's going around for this movie I think a lot of people will end up disappointed, people expect perfection when really it could never live up to what you pictured in you own mind, It wasn't as good as I had hoped, but still enjoyable.
