Why can't Bebop be a live action show? I've heard some reasons before but I forgot them. Anyway almost every diehard fan says Bebop can only be anime. Is it the action? The special effects? What if some producers like HBO were willing to finance a big budget limited series of Bebop?

I honestly would not like that to happen. I think Cowboy Bebop is perfect as it is. It's sad that they don't continue the anime, but it was for the best to preserve it's quality. Doing a Live Action Show could very well destroy it's image. And that would be a tragedy.

So no, I hope they don't do such a thing. I don't think they'd consider it anyway.

of cource it could be done as live action but theres such a high chance that itd be done poorly...even if by some freakish chance it was done well theres no way it could compete with the anime....then of cource how would u feel if every time u mention cowboy bebop, people think of a low buget poorly done b class show instead of the anime? or a "well done" show starring Orlando Bloom as Spike and Britney Spears as Faye or something? *cringes* i cant speak for all the cowboy bebop fans but id be mad.... just like remakes....remakes never work out......(or at least theyre never as good as the originals in my opinion anyway)

okay unless u got it together perfectly and it was Heavily Financed then it might come out as C-class at best knowing HBO they would mess it up. Bebop is best as in Anime sure it would be nice that if they restarted it and added some new main characters in it with the old ones...i could go on but im not

it would probably come out looking like an out of place star track....

and can an actuall human take the place of our beloved Edward?

i hate the idea of it becoming live action... just like the killed sailormoon turning it into live action... :(

1.) Why would they need a new story? Couldn't they purchase the rights to the old story?

2.) I also think that there is a 99% chance of someone screwing up a live action version of Bebop. Here are the reasons.
    a. Most directors today totally suck ass.
    b. Most directors today put in too many aspects of pop culture into their movies and shows. Bebop is a whole different world and must be treated as so.
    c. Spike's character is very delicate. Some dumb ass actor might try and portray him as oversensative. Some might try and give him too much of an attitude.
    d. Most directors today don't know action from inaction. Van Helsing was probably the worst movie I've ever seen and serves as a brilliant example of this.
    e. How does one solve this problem? Let bebop be itself. No outside influences. No crappy actors (that pretty much excludes half the actors in holywood.) In fact I think Bebop needs totally new faces. Spike needs a fresh face. If Spike's actor pulls him off just right this actor will always be remembered as Spike Spiegel.

3.) I love Bebop the way it is. I think its great. However I think there are many things the director did not include that would have made it better. I also think that if the action is done right and the essence of the characters remain intact, the Bebop regime will not be affected.

4.) Overall, I think they should have a live action remake of the series, starting with the movie. Use the movie as a test to see if the transition from anime to live action was properly accomplished. The Box Office sales will be judges.

5.) I said before that Directors like to incorporate way too much contemporary "fads" into their movies. I believe that Bebop, if done properly, will set a new standard for the audiances of the world. They will no longer want to see the pure crap coming from holywood today. I believe Cowboy Bebop can change the way movies are made forever.

"and can an actuall human take the place of our beloved Edward?"

I thought of that. Try spliting Edward into two characters. A chimp and a child. The Chimp can be the silly bastard edward wasnt. Exclude Ein. Edward can just be a geeky computer hacker without the sexual ambiguities.

I'll admit one of the coolest features of Bebop is the art and the style used to mingle combat. But many of those moves are doable in real life with the exception of a few (ex pretty much everything in episode 12.) I think one of the fundamental problems of live action fight scense today is camera angle and slow motion. They try and dramatize the fight in all the wrong ways. Watch a Segal movie for five minutes and see how long it takes before your bored. You'll be surprised to find that the most boring scenes are the fight scenes. Anyway, I think one unique feature to Bebop's fight scenes is focus. The moves don't look cool just because of the way they are animated. The camera (or in the case of bebop, our viewpoint) follows the fight very well while most movies shoot from all the wrong angles.

Edward is probably the worst part of the Bebop series. I think they went way overboard with her silliness. I think the silliness was required, but it should have come from another character. If you read the real bebop site, you will find that originally Edward was supposed to be two characters (a boy and a girl).

shes probably the only character you look at and go

"what the **** is wrong with this kid"

oh yeah jet or faye would have done a great job doing edwards job?

at least her even with the silliness she got the job done

superman was good until they turned that into a movie also...
