Macross Plus was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, and more ! !

I loved the music, it was done by Yoko Kanno. The genius behind the music in Escaflowne and Cowboy Bebop.

I don't think there is any more to it....but If you liked Macross Plus, check out some other Macross'!

    Hmmm dont do it...
I got Macross Plus the Movie a few years back (its essentially the macross OVAs you saw with the not too important parts taken out), i thought it was excellent and i wanted more, now i knew Macross 1 & 2 sucked badly (they were distributed by Kiseki what more needs to be said [IMG]), so i got hold of a fansub of Macross 7 all seemed well until the combat scenes in which Basara gets in his Valkyrie to slap about some bad guys, except no slapping occurs..no he shoots speaker pods at them and starts spouting some truly awful J-Rock crap at them and this for me really ruined it, if you can stand Bad J-Rock then you might like it...
If you decide to try it the only place you can get it is via fansub, its easy to find in the us, as quite a lot of fansub distros carry it, in the UK the only place you can get it from is Jimaku Animation but they have been closed for Distro for the Past 9 months and havent shown any signs of re-opening 8/

    It's a New Frontier..bla bla bla..

actually Macross 7 Dynamite wasnt all that bad, I mean the animation was pretty good, even though 'Save the Space Whales' isnt on my fav list of stories for anime...

Always wondered how Basara piloted his Valkyrie while playing guitar...

Macross Plus opening theme song 'Voices' is awesome though, so's 'Information High' and 'Wanna be an Angel'.

Macross Plus was first released as a four part OVA set each being 45mins long (i think its 45mins 8)), later on it was shrunk down and became Macross Plus the Movie.

    Macross 7, Bad J-Rock?

    [Pedro mode on]
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
    [Pedro mode off]

I loved the music from Macross Dynamite 7 at least...

    DYNAMITE EXPLOSION ONCE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

Methinks the Valjyrie is attached to the pilot's mind or something, so it knows what to do. Although it would be cool if you could fly around in a Guitar controlled mech!

ya mean *Pedro Mode: Nooo!* ?

its this poor fella in Excel Saga, he dies, cuz Excel didnt save him in a fire, he finds out his wife has a new lover (his best friend) and the Universe Lady wants him for her own ..umm, needs. all we get is 'Nooooooo !' after each little scene of him,the word being large on the screen made in stone or something. plus rivers flow from his face all the time. In one episode he gets beaten up by all the male characters in the show cuz Pedro was the only guy whose face was shown (in that only gals episode).

    Excel is pure hilariousness....

'Pedro Mode: Noooo!' is used all the time in e-mails by the execs in my anime club. (I'm one)

Macross 7 was a pile of crap, horrible story, Basara's a muppet and they repeated the songs far too much.

Macross Plus is a classic, and the movie edition is even better. The new scenes which were added are great but I do miss the battle between Isamu and the rebel Zentran's /Meltran's which was at the start of part one. Kanno's soundtrack was superb, but I still don't like the fact that some of the songs (After the Dark and Wanna be an Angel in particular), had lyrics that were just gibberish, They weren't English or Japanese, I don't even think it was supposed to be Zentraidi.

I'm still waiting to get my hands on the Animeigo DVD release, so that I can see the original series.

Macross II was just a rehashed money spinning joke, the VF-2SS and Metal Siren were badass Valk designs though.

DYRL never did much for me. The animation was nice for the time, but it just felt like a uncomplete remake of the orignal TV series.

Oh well, at least we've got the new OVA to look forward to.

The guitar was the control system for the Fire Valk.

macross plus was what revitalized my interest in anime. ^_^

i like both the OVA and Movie for different reasons. i think that the first half of the OVA is much better than the first half of the movie. and the second half of the movie is better than the second half of the OVA.

so whenever i rewatch this anime i usually watch parts 1-3 of the OVAs and then at the end of part 3 switch to the movie (fastforward to where part 3 left off) and watch until the end.

It's the ultimate Macross Plus experience. ^_^

Robotech/Macross is one of the greatist story's in anime ever created.. I think because of its success anime is as big as it is!
