    Well folks, its finally here.

The new Macross OVA. And its a prequel.

At first, I was very cautious about how to approach this. It takes a certain mix to get a prequel done right. and after the hideously bad Macross 7 and Macross 7 ova, I wondered if they would be able to rework the Macross Magic.

    And boy did they ever!

I'm going to keep this review spoiler free, so I'm not going to talk about the plot other than this comment: Its well done, and there are actually some surprises. It stays consistent within the Macross universe and is well done. It commanded my full attention at all times, and I can't say theres a character I absolutely hate. They keep the number of characters nice and small so we can focus on them instead of trying to remember tons of people. Anyway, the plot is well done.

The animation is EXCELLENT! the character design is new but is actually quite good.

Now, something Im sure anyone who has been following the production of this is concerned with: the computer generated fights.

They're good. Don't worry. Its not a jarring transition.

The voices are all appropriate and sound good. The musical score is good, but something that caught my attention was that the music from the first fight scene sounded similar to the Klendauthu Drop music from Starship Troopers. I don't know if it actually IS that song or just extremely similar, because its just a few bars that were impossible to ignore, which were followed by more original sounding music. But anyway, the music is good as well.

The mecha design is, of course, well done.

Macross Zero gets a 92% from me. A very worthy addition to the Macross story!!!

AND I GOTTA WAIT TILL SPRING FOR EPISODE 2!!!:( :( :(

Well, you definitely won't be disappointed. I thought the CG was extremely well done. It meshed very well with the animation, and generally enhanced the feeling that FLYING THINGS ARE REALLY FAST!

Nice Review. I guess if I was going to grade it, I would give it an A+ for coolness, and an D- for making us wait so long between episodes.

I finally got to seeing it myself. The VF-0 transformation at the end is simply amazing. I've probably watched that part 100 times over. I didn't like the Anti-UN fighter though.....It was purple...not too fond of that color.....
