RPG Archives Maelstrom of Fate - Remorse

*Infamous star-pilot Hills Kendaru stopped at a stream on the moon of Jilona 7. He unsaddled his magnum and set it aside, not far off from the stream edge. He undressed and looked at his most recent wound, on his side. It was just scabbing over and he touched the fragile spot. A wave of pain shot through the wound. But Hills was used to this. He took off the rest of his clothes and dipped into the stream. The cold but refreshing water ran over his body. A few minutes later, he got out, dried himself off with his shirt, and put everything on, save the damp clothe he through on the ground. He then laid back in the grass.
Life was hard for Hills ever since he accidentely destroyed the fusion plant on Yana. He was now the most wanted man, or being for that matter, in the galaxy. Everywhere he went he was being hunted.
His eyes slowly became heavy. He rolled onto his side and fell asleep.*

 

Kendaru stirred as he heard the familiar sound of ion engines descending from above - in fact, many ion engines. It seemed that an armada was going after him for the cash. Looking up was an amazing sight - it seemed that a fleet just came out of nowhere in your nap. Had you slept that long? The first ships of the fleet begins to descend, tractor beam ports opening to disarm you of your ship.

*he reaches for the magnum beside him and aims at the armada. he fires continuous rounds at the attackers, but knew they were armed with the crystalline-platinine armor, and Hills' photon shots, although they could bring down footmen, only touched the armor like a mother touching a sick child's cheek. Still he fired. All the while, with his free hand, he touched the homing button on his belt for bringing the ship to him. He only hoped it would get there soon, before...*

Come on, Blade Runner, I need you...

 

The photon shots ping off the reinforced crystal-platinum armor like light off of a mirror as the first ship lands, letting force a squad of 12 of elite troopers, armored to the teeth and guns ready. At that time, Hills' ship conveniently flies through the back of the ranks of the troopers, bashing three of them into submission and resting at Kendaru's position, albeit a little bashed up - trooper armor seems to be extremely tough.

Computer, fire Photon Cannon A.

*By then he was already mounting the ship. The computer system registered the words and fired with machine guns at the remaining 9 soldiers. He had to get out of here now.
Blade Runner wasn't very big, about the size of a X-shaped ship in a popular sci-fi movie during the ancient 20th century. It had a silver, smooth, narrow center were the cockpit lay, with smaller, similar looking dhapes on each side of it, where the cannons lie. The pilot could mount on the ship from the underside, crawl belly down into the cockpit, and continue from there.
The time Hills got to the cockpit, the 7 remaining soldiers, 2 were taken down under the heavy fire of "Photon Cannon A", were already firing upon the ship with everyhting they had. Although the Blade Runner's armor had the type of armor found on the starship hovering above the fight, it could only take on so much punishment. Alarms started to blare as the first rounds started piercing through the armor. He re-activated the cannon and fired into the mass with repeated 107.66mm rounds (do the math, these are HUGE). When the last of them fell, the small ship turned to fly out of the atmosphere, but stopped suddenly. He pulled up the status screen on the holomoniter beside him and looked at the text: the ships hovering above had activated their tractor beams. If he was going to get out, he had to take them out. He was tired of the killing, death, destruction, everthing. So much that...Hills killed the engines of the Blade Runner and drifted to nearest antagonist's tractor beam port*

 

The tractor beams continued to rage on as the battlecruisers began the fire of ion disruptors upon the small ship with deadly accuracy. A few strikes brought down the shield temporarily, and one more disabled the shield generator. It was getting to be a deadly journey for the bounty hunter - without shields, the ship, no matter what armor it had, would be torn apart by the sheer force of 5 tractor beams pulling it from different directions. As the disruptors raged on, it seemed hopeless. However, suddenly, two of the battlecruisers were struck with large lances of blue energy, and proceeded to blow apart. A strange development, the tractor beams were off target for a second as the other cruisers adjusted to the new enemy...

 

*Hills was still in a kind of remorseful trance when he saw this happening. He snapped ourt of the trance and fired the thruster engines.*

Computer, initiate Code 719 with Photon Cannon B, Forward thrusters Max. Activate now!

*The pods on the sides of the ship opened away from the center. A large cannon appeared on the left pod and began to shimmer brilliantly. At the same time, the ship began throwing itself on the nearest battlecruiser. Finally, a gargantuan beam lanced from the left pod into the cruiser, at the enemy ship split from the impact, while the Blade Runner kept moving towards the blast. What happened next defied what Hills could ever believe in.
As zipped through the explosion, he expected a jump to hyperspace to happen. However he saw a portal, a blank white portal. He didn't have time to turn or anything as he slipped into the portal. He blanked out and fell unconcious as the portal transported him to type of sapce no one has ever seen before...The Maelstrom...*

As the white portal engulfed the ship, the sounds of the ensuing battle becoming less and less clear, explosions turning into dull roars, blasts of energy becoming small pings in the air, you could only watch as the parts of the ship simply.. slide away - you were the only one who passed the portal, the ship seemingly parting with you and the portal like spilt water on the table. As you lose your conciousness, the last thing you see is your memories, forgotten or retained, flooding through your mind like a rocket one after another...
