What do you think of the latest Magic: The Gathering series? Personally, I don't particularly care for it. The cards seem weak compared to some of the old ones, I continually fail to find a decent use for them, and I can go on all day without finishing. Ahh, but that's just the point of view of "The Advocate of Pre-Sixth Edition Magic." Thank you, Valant_Rapitor.

Anyone else care to make their view known?

Almost all Type 2/Block Constructed fodder. Some, like the Mirror Breaker or Akki, may see some use, but I heavily doubt it.

I've heard from my magic friends that this expansion was too overhyped. Well, I don't really, I stopped playing magic after Judgement :p

As you all know, I stick with mostly Pre-Invasion cards. I got a few of these, and for the most part, they're useless. I think, with the newer sets, the rarer the better. I got a Shell of the Last Kappa that worked out pretty nice, and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker can make some decent combos, (Ie. Bloodshot Cyclops) but, for the most part, I find myself saying "Ooh, that's it?" When an opponent pulls out a Champions of Kamigawa card. (Warning, acronym has sexual allusions)

Of course, I say "Ooh, that's it?" a lot these days, since I souped up my elf deck. I don't think even VR could beat it, now. It's gotten so much better.

There you go, an updated (newly-minted?) two cents from me.

I would say, that it's not bad, but not good, either. I'm not an expert, but I think that the Bushido-ability is good, but sometimes it's totally useless. I personally would go for the old cards.

Same here. It seems as though Wizards suddenly wants to name every ability ever, regardless of how much it confuses us. I've seen some of these cards, and I think a few good old-fashioned cards, like Prodigal Sorceror, or even a card as strong as Nightmare, could have them all beat.

Bushido. Worthless copy of now-dead ability 'Rampage.'

I'd rather have a reliable White/Black Knight, or a nasty swarm of Killer Bees than most of these useless characters.

And, I know I'mjumping all over the place, seemingly non-sensically. It has to do with the words I didn't say... or type.

I think it's not bad. It's kinda good, but i think something is missing.
The cards seem weak, and think some of them are useless, so hopefully they get better next time.

Don't get me wrong, some of the are really good, but in my opinion, some of them is about 5 or 7. And no, i don't think Bushido is one of them.

Conlcusion, not worht buying them unless you truly worship the game (in my opinion).

Bushido is actually strictly superior to rampage, in the fact it automatically triggers, rather than needing more than one blocker.

But as for the set, meh. It's got a few playables (Kiki-Jiki, Samurai of the Pale Curtain), but nothing that's going to affect Type 2 (or any other format, really).

But, do the effects of Bushido stack like Rampage? No. The reminder text states, "When this creature blocks or becomes blocked, it gets +X/+X until end of turn." Meaning it only happens once. Rampage goes on, and stacks with every creature beyond the first, which is WHY Gorilla Berserkers are so scary. I admit that Bushido has it's plusses, in that it works when the creature is blocking, too, but I'd rather have a creature that's powerful to begin with, not one that needs to have an opponent to be strong.

Besides, that's not what Bushido is about. Bushido is not simply a combat form, or a series of techniques. It's a way of life, almost to the point of being a religion.

(So far, the only card I liked was my Shell of the Last Kappa)
