i've been trying to find a free downloadable program on the net that can be used to make an anime. ie, i was hoping for a system when i can scan in my line art, clean it up in photoshop, and then send it to a program that will coalate them frame by frame and then play burn to cd and record dubs. does anyone know of such a program?

Off topic, I remember this one program by Corel. I forget the name but basically you could import backgrounds and make your own 'characters'.

Thing is you had to draw EVERY change if there was one, which ended up with me just using 3 stage engine cycles for starships (this was for a school project).

It -is- easier to use than Flash but a lot less powerful. I made two animations using the program. One involved three starships going after a rogue captain (It had Janeway piloting a devil worshipping veritech!:D). The second was simply a battle between two races, one using fighters, the other using mecha. It was cool as hell. The teacher gave me the Best of the Class award for that little ditty.

Neph, sounds nice. You don't by any chance have the anime somewhere stored perhaps??? woul'd be more than exited to take a looksie.

Other thing, i looked up the clips in newgrounds that had been made by flash. They all looked somehow..clumsy..or, oh how will i say it:confused: ..umm not one of them was like sharp pictures, more like drawn roughly with windows paint or something and then made them move around. Didn't really make me clap my hands for the works.

And also...don't know if this is related in anyway but, my friend told me that if one want's a smooth animation you have to make about 25 pics per second, that is..if object is moving.

Okay..yet another pointless post from me and i feel like im babling a lot of bull here so i'll quit it..heh.

note:tetsuo, yeah, 24 frames per sec is standard flicker-free animation. mulitply in hours and see how many cells that makes!
and i wouldn't mide having a looksie at your efforts either neph...

Thankfully, my two animations were destroyed in a great Format.

Really, you dont wanna see em. See, the Corel program basically had paint as a tool for character and set design, and I had 3 or 4 classes in which to actually work on it. So really only three or four hours.

Basically I'd spend an hour designing backdrops and 'characters', a half hour grabbing music and sound effects, and then spend the rest making the animation and fine tuning it.

It wasnt ugly, it just looked like crap compared to all the nice and shiny flash animation people are used to. Theres no special effects, this thing was a bare-bones program and I can't think of anyone who uses it.

But, if I can track down a copy, maybe I'll whip up a quick little thing.
