hehehe it's like making your own meth lab. everything is pretty common or easy to get ahold of.
    that's funny

did you hear about that little boy who built the atomic bomb for a science fair? all he need was some atomic element to make it work.

Errrrrrr, yeaaaaaaaaah. I'm gonna have to ask for a source on this one, given that building nuclear weapons is difficult even for countries with money, infrastructure, and scientific resources. It requires solving several very difficult problems simultaneously. Acquiring the fissionable material to generate a nuclear explosion is the single most difficult step. Then of course theres, y'know radiation to contend with...

Plus, where would he get uranium or plutonium???

A nuclear bomb is actually not a very difficult device to build.

A RELIABLE nuke, on the other hand, takes a lot more than one person's resources.

But a cheap nuke, hell, give me $5000 and a few connections and I could build one, easy.

he didn't have uranium or plutonium. But that is what would of made it an atomic bomb that was the only thing that he was missing

hey neph, you found his site, congrats. i saw this on the news a day or so ago but naturally they didn't give you the address.:)

you'd need 1kg of pure plutonium or uranium to do this. You can't make a small atomic bomb because they work thus.
the elements uranium and plutionium are unstable and undergo decay in their natural state. however, in it's pure form it has a critical mass. once this mass is exceeded you get spontaneous combustion and a nuclear explosion.
So to make a nuke, you need 2 500g halves of pure fission material contained in a shell. In the cone there is regular exlosives. When the nuke hits the ground these ordinary charges go off and force the halves of plutionium together....
so you can't make one that's 'in scale'.

uranium and plutionium is incredibly difficult to extract and purify in these quanitities, so the only was to get it is to buy it from a rich country that can. And as neph said, people start asking questions when you order two 500g halves of pure uranium.....

*edit* ahh, you've posted while i was writting this... but ummm, as i said, a nuke without the fission material is essentially just a normal bomb....unless he managed to encase the thing in lead for radiation control......
