Okay, so, I thought Itachi was a heartless guy who just killed his family to test his ablities.. but is that the only reason?

If I saw my younger brother treated like crap by my family, if I was used for my abilities and told to obey and lectured about the clan and the police service.. and.. well, its more reasons then just testing his ablities to reach the 'height'

I liked the Itachi of the ANBU, right now I'm still unsure of his motives behind many things, and I can't wait to learn more. I wonder why he just didn't .. leave instead though if he felt tied down or held back from becoming more powerful.

Personally, I never DISLIKED Itachi. I never knew enough about him, even though he WAS responsible for the Uchiha clan slaughter.

One thing that Naruto (the series, not the character) does is it develops characters really well (with the sole exceptions of Kabuto and Tsunade's assistant). Especially those who are very important to the core characters of Naruto and Sasuke.

There HAD to be more about Itachi, so I withheld judgement. But, seeing the chapters I'm seeing now...I'm not more sympathetic, but I am more understanding.

He strikes me as a Gouki/Akuma-type character. He sees that his bloodline can only go so far, so he tries to escape, but they don't let him. And the only way to get stronger is to fight/kill those stronger than you.

...which means I've probably read that whole few chapters wrong...=D

hmm well, the question was liking him 'more' not, 'do you like him now?' type thing. I understand him a bit better, but I need to read more upcoming manga chapters.

In regards to Kabuto and Shizune(Tsunade's assistant/travelling companion) we may get some form of story about their characters in the future. but their stories at least Kabuto's should have been revealed sooner.

I thought I answered your question, Seraphim. =P

I like him more, which was definitely more than I liked him before. Therefore, I DO like him. Although...the most recent chapter put a bit of a damper on that.

hmm its interesting to know why now Itachi Shusui died by drowning.(chapter 222 - reason end of 224) It makes me wonder how this Mangekyou Sharingan could awaken in Sasuke now.. as well knowing for sure why Itachi let Sasuke live and another reason why Itachi killed the whole clan.

Itachi... thinking about it.. was being used by his father, since Itachi would have to become the clan's representative after his father. This led to very high expectations and Itachi feeling tied down to duty. It seems his father didn't really care much about his first son after all, but the clan came first, then Sasuke was number 2 (from what Sasuke's Mom said).. what do you think?

I think that the Uchiha clan head (Sasuke's and Itachi's father) was forced to be stern with Itachi. First of all, the first born was to be the new leader, when the time comes. Second, it seems that their father's way of showing his love for his sons was to be stern with them.

Sasuke understood that because he talked with his mom about it. But, it seems that being a loner is part of being an Uchiha, as Itachi never got to hear that. He always sees his father as the stern disciplinarian.

Also, Itachi was traumatized by killing his best friend, as the last few panels attest to, in Chapter 224. It was probably ordered by his father, and the village.

I think he had a few reasons... but y'know... killing his whole frikkin clan is overdoing it a tad bit. -_-

And I don't think it was because Sasu-chan was treated like crap. Itachi never had time for him, either. Though he may regret that, he could've taken Sasuke with him. He WANTED Sasuke to hate and come after him. He's just there so Itachi can test his strength.
