I bought a DVD on monday called "Golgo 13: the professional", it's an anime.. released in the Uk/ireland by manga entertainment..

on the box it says "english/japanese stereo", asnd "english subtitles".. yet when I put the DVD in my comp to play it.. ther was no japanese audio track.. and no subtitles at all..

it only had the english dub, which was VERY annoying.

i'm just wondering if anyone else has seen this kind of thing with manga dvds.. it's blatant false advertising and I'm not happy with it at all.

I haven't had much experience with dvds from Manga Ent but i do have a little issue with the Region 2 DVDs from MVM UK. The Bubblegum Crisis and Oh my goddess releases are in NTSC format even though there not marked on the case as such, which could be a nuisance for folks with older TV's.

Ooh- another reason for me to call them Manga(l) Entertainment (mispronouncing the Manga of course).

edit: Why not go into the many sins of Manga(l)? OK, first disc I bought was the US release of Ghost in the Shell. Amazing transfer, very good. Second disc - Wings of Honneamise. The video was, how can I put this - atrocious, headache-inducing. They attempted to make a non-anamorphic laserdisc master anamorphic. Bad move. Lots of ghosting, kind of a muddy transfer.
What I hear of the Evangelion movies is that they've learned their lesson on the video and left it non-anamorphic (as no anamorphic master exists) and the video is actually pretty good. However, they made the disc two-sided, and put their Mokuji extras on a side that had only the English dub. Why the Mokuji extras couldn't fit on one side with everything else hasn't been explained. Why they couldn't put the Japanese and subtitles on the second side also hasn't been explained.

And this thing with Golgo 13- false advertising for sure - harass them until they fix it.

That sounds like an error from the early run of the DVD production or something.

Nothing suprises me with Manga Ent. these days, the thing with the labels of the Macross Plus DVD's was kinda funny but an important element of a DVD release ain't so groovey.

From what I can tell the original Golgo 13 hasn't gotten a DVD release in the US so I'm unsure as to whether a Eng. sub script has been produced by any company. Manga might just be lazy, lieing scum in this case.

Email them for a start, ****ing companies out of it often results in free stuff in my experience :D

Seems this is not such a rare thing with Manga Ent.
I was planning to buy the Street Fighter II DVD to replace my well worn VHS copy when I checked the reviews on Amazon UK many buyers complained of the lack of the Jap dub.

Posting the same thread on 2 boards, tut tut...

They do seem to be inaccurate(I bought a Giant Robo video{extremely cool anime} and it had length 30 min approx, but the actual running time was around 1:05), but they do bring a lot of anime over here which would otherwise not be seen, so it's a double edged sword. **** it, I'm going home.
