I know that while a manga isn't licensed people can d/l from the net by subbing group. But how does this subbing group start the subbing? Do they need to ask someone? or do they just start?

I believe they just do it, because if they were to ask the company that made it if they could do it then it would get licensed, wouldn't it?

I'm pretty sure as a group they (the subbers) discuss what manga to sub and if they're in agreement they devote a task force to it.

They just start Zanza. It is just like Anime. As Neph said the group picks one out together and goes with it. Mangas should be easier to sub then anime.

    They're called "scanlations", actually.

I would think for some sites people just pick what manga they like and scanlated it. *Shrugs*

They just start translating them. They hear about the new Japanese hits and if they're interested, they do it. I'd like to, only if I knew more Japanese.

We've already got a few replies saying the exact same thing... maybe we could shut this down?
