Creative Writing Manly And Poetic Poems!!!

Discussion in 'Written Arts' started by david_strontium, Jul 4, 2003.

  1. Hello, I just finished a poetry book on a topic that has been rarely discussed in poetry: manliness. This poetry book isn’t necessarily for people who like poetry, but for people who DON’T like poetry. It has several catchy slogans and lines that rhyme and that I made up so you can say to your heart’s content in your mind, weather you’re playing in the last quarter of a football game, gunning down some bad guys (or good guys >D ) or just plain want to be inspired and awed by destruction, chaos, and battle. This book is not for the wimpy, the girly, or the sissy. This book is for the sadomasochistic, megalomaniacal, egomaniacal, sociopathic, psychopathic maniac in all of us. Below are the listings and some sample poems from the book; ENJOY THE PAIN!!!!!

The first poem revolves around the introduction of a character from a new book that I will finish soon. You can probably guess the title of the book by reading this and the rest of the poems. It centers on an immortal warrior who changes the fates of other stories. In this poem, he describes himself to the reader and describes vaguely the actions that he performs and what he is.

    I AM THE TITAN

    I am the titan.

When darkness falls, when madness rises, I am the titan, to fight them all.

Too much fear, too much suffering, I am the titan, to quell them all.

Armies of rage massing, heroes of virtue dying, Evil’s grip closing, lands of peace falling, I am the titan, to bring order to all.

Madman killing, freedom failing, no one left, to stop criminals assailing. No one left, to bring peace in sight, I am the titan, to bring order through right!

Endings of misery come and go, no one left, to correct the flow. I will change what chaos makes, for I am the titan, and I will make right the endings of long ago, and break what madness creates.

No hero knows, what destiny befalls them, for there is no path but what is thought for them. Only at one time, did no one know, the endings at once, long foretold. I see the path that I must change, for I am the titan, and I will make new what has been made.

Through might, I will make right, the plight that is in sight, for I am the titan, and you will know the fight.

In sight, you will see the fight, that brings all this night, for I am the titan, and you must know that I will not die tonight.

Too little heroes, too many villains, all that differs, is how they kill zillions. No one left, to fight for the millions, but me, for I am the titan, for I will bring freedom to all civilians.

No one to stop them, none to oppose them, fewer to fight them, and only one to dispose of them, for I am the titan, and I must stand with those who are against them, to the end, until there are none to fend them.

If ever there is an ending to a story that you don’t like, dream of me, and I’ll be there, to make it right.

I am the titan, and you will know what is wrath, I am the titan, then you will know the path.
I am the titan, and you will see what I am, I am the titan, then you will see that I can.
I am the titan, and you will feel what is right, I am the titan, then you will feel my might.
I am the titan, and you will hear my voice, I am the titan, then you will hear my choice.
I am the titan, and you will sense the menace, I am the titan, then you will sense my presence.

I am the titan, and forever I stand before you, forgotten, as a legend of destruction untold to you, but as a hero, hidden in the shadows of others, to be awakened, when there is not another, a warrior, unlike all before, ready to fight for all those more, unwilling to give up against the forces of mad, ready to fight,
    against all that is bad.

This poem is included as is the first one in the book that I will be finishing soon. This poem is spoken to a child that has nightmares about horrible creatures. In the story, she is supposed to fall asleep after she hears the poem, and the protagonist is supposed to enter her dreams to literally fight the demons for her.

    THE NIGHTMARE HERO

When you sleep in twilight, you dream through the night, of nightmare villains, that give you fright.

You have never had a hero, for which to implore, to fight for you, against the ravaging hordes.

I am your titan, I am the champion, to clear your obstructions. I am your warrior; I am the legend of your nightmares destructions.

For I am the savior, I am the fighter; I am the warrior, for our unending fears. I am the helper, I am the healer, I am the queller, to your unending tears.

I have always fought monsters from front and behind, but I have never fought demons, in one’s young mind.

I am the blade of your vengeance, the will of your courage, the bringer of silence, in your dreams to nourish. The freer of blame, in your minds prison, the destroyer of shame, to Aleve all tension.

You will be warm, throughout the cold night, away from the swarm, that gives you such fright to be free, when the nightmares come, to fly away when all evil is undone, to have all that is bad, die as it runs.

Dream of me, for I will be there to fight your demons, to keep them away, from your sweet dreamings, away from chaos, as if you were swimming, swimming into joy, as if you were sleeping.

I am the silent whisper, to quell all your fears, I am the nightmare hero, to wash away your tears.

I am the righteous warrior to make all evil weep, I am the nightmare hero, to guard your mind as you sleep.

I am the calm ocean to make all madness die, I am the nightmare hero, to watch you as you fly.

I am the keeper of your swell dreams, to keep you away from hellish fiends.

I am the sweeper of unwelcome minds, to keep you away from unwelcome rhymes.

I am the reverser of all that is bad, to keep away all dreams that come out sad, to keep away all fiends that drive you mad, by any means I will make you glad.

No one can see me in reality’s field, but in here, in the realm of fiction, I am real, to keep you concealed, from all that is evil, to shut out the darkness that wants to cloud your sky, to shut out the voices that make you cry, to shut out the demons that wish to pry, to shut out the rhymes that make you sigh, I am the nightmare hero in your eye, to keep you always in fly, to always make you soar high, away from all demons that cloud your mind, to the stars to say bye, soar high fly into the sky, away from all that makes you shy, into the night, forever in flight, out of sight, from all fright.

Yeah! That's some nuts stuff. I laughed at the title of that one poem in the list..."Balls"! I wonder what that's about! :D Finally some @$$-kicking brute force against all those sissy lil lyrics that people write, who think that just cuz they got a crush on someone that they got writing skills. You know what I mean--people write all those lovey-dovey poems with really cliche rhymes like "....we'll be together, I'll love you forever..." or "...from the start, ....in my heart." Hahaha! Stupid! But you, you bring on the iron fist into a drama-queen's pathetic face. Even though your poems are kinda long, you have some good themes.

  3. Thanks alot for the comments, I hope you enjoy my book, and I hope you like Legends of Destruction, if you choose to buy it of course.

Balls is a really short poem; it was a bet against my father that I could write a poem about any word.

Hmm, poetry that's not sissy, eh? Well, I must say that I don't have much experience with 'sissy' poetry...my mother has been writing very, very dark stuff my whole life.. I grew up reading poems with titles like "Obsidian Prison" and "Springtime Gun" (two of my favorites written by her..) so I've no taste for such things that require that you find a rhyme for 'dove'.
I like what you've put up here; but I would like to suggest that you find a good synonym for 'titan'. All in all, I like 'em! >=D
