So I got this book yesterday, Memoirs of a Geisha ... And it really is a good book. I like it a lot..

But I don't too much like the author of it.

Nitta Sayuri I am most positive her name is, is the woman who the book is based on. But she says that the author Arthur Golden, wrote about her when she had asked him not to. I don't really like the person who wrote it.

So can anyone Clearify for me the contraversy over this book, which is very good.

I didn't read it, but a friend of mine also read that book, and also said it was really good.

I read it too! It's great! I can explain about the book, too. The story and the character, Sayuri, are complete fiction. The guy who says he 'wrote' the book in the translator's note at the beginning is called Jakob, and he is another of Golden's fictional characters.

Note that Jakob claims to have been 14 in 1936, a long time before Arthur Golden was even born. Golden wrote the book, imagining that the story was being told by one character, Sayuri, to anothercharacter, Jakob. He did this to perhaps make the story feel more 'real' even though it is, in fact, just fiction.
