Ok. Heres the deal. i wanna start a thread where we can all talk about metal gear. any metal gear. and u can talk about anything. need help on a certain part in the game, or u just wanna comment on the storyline. watever.

ok, i guess ill say something to begin with.
ok, i have finished Sons of Liberty once on very easy, and i played it again on easy. well, i was up to the part u have to use the PSG-1 to shoot out all the control panels to deactivate the symtex on the bridge. well, i got there and i shot all the the ones i could find, and then i attemt to walk through. i got a call from Pliskin saying "u havent disarmed them all." im like, "wat?" i decide it might be a bug in the game, and walk on. "Boom". im like, ****. then i look around for it. i look and look for about 2 hours straight. then i give up. "**** this" i say and i turn around to go kill some guards or something. then my hand slips and my controller falls to the floor, and it hits the R1 button, causing it to go in fpv just for a second. then i see a little flash of a light. i pick up the controller, and i look. HALELUYA! there it is! the last panel. Bloody pissed me off, damn thin. all along it was, like 2 feet away from me. ****.:D

    Heh. That game was fun...

    *SPOILERS...I THINK...*

I liked Metal Gear Twoooo that was a fun game, it picked up where the other one (One) left off. You had to go to Outer Haven and kill Big Boss and stuff...but theres a twist! Tis here you find out that Snake is

    *BIG SPOILER*
actually a clone of Big Boss!
    *END OF TEH BIGLY SPOILER!*

    Doesn't that just beat all?

    *END SPOILERS*

But yeah...MG 1 was hard, too! I could never get past that damned tank! I had to have my cousin do it for me! (Give me a break, kay? I was like 7!)

Konami is like the mother of all developers when it comes to Easter Eggs.

    MGS:

It had all those codec talks. For example, you shoot the rats, soon enough Naomi or Campbell come a callin' and berating you. Call Mei Ling 10 times without saving, and she cherries you.

Punch a wolf then hide in the box really quick, and then you get them to pee on you...but when you use the box, they don't try to bite you anymore.

If you think the only way to beat Ocelot is to shoot him, think again. Not many people know this...but if you strap C4's on the very end walls...you won't trip the bombs in the center. You should have enough to take half his life.

You can also use Stingers against Sniper Wolf.

If you have any saved Konami Games, your fight against Pyscho Mantis will have a few extra cut scenes. He'll also tell you how you play the game: whether your careful or reckless. I always got reckless....since the only time I really save in MGS is right before the Metal Gear fight.

    MGS2:

Codec talks are brought even further. Try pressing R1 or R2 during one and you get to hear Snake's/Raiden's thoughts on who he's speaking too. R1 for positive thoughts, R2 for negative thoughts. You can also use the analogs to zoom and trace in codec mode.

Try taking a picture of the girls and Olga with the camers in the Ship mission. Better yet, y'know the one that guard was looking at? Shoot it. It explodes and people come runnin'. Supposedly.

There are four actual Easter Egg Island Statues in the game. One is in the small air ducts when trying to free the President. I forgot where the others are.

Try shooting Snake when he's sleeping. Also, if you found the shaver before hand, at the end of the game, he'll look clean shaven. He's also actually holding the last dog tag.

When you have the scope/binoculars, I believe you press triangle on guards, and if you have their dog tag, it says all vitals on the screen. Also, if it happens to be their birthday...then you see Happy Birthday!

If you can't seem to get past a guard because of his position and you REALLY want his dog tags and your on Normal and below...just shoot him with the M9. Then run up to him, spray him on the face with the coolant. He'll wake up after a bit, since it must be annoying...then you can proceed to hold him up.

Speaking of holding up guards, try using an empty gun (they still freeze, as long as you don't shoot) or the RGB6 or Stingers (the wet themselves).

In the first mission, get Snake to the locker with the girl's picture on it. Duck and press R1...he kisses the picture. Also, try just having your back pressed against it and tap against the picture...you get cool sounds. ;)

Use the Mic in the conversation with Olga and Solidus I believe and aim it towards one of the walls. You'll hear the guy from the first one...the one who got his clothes stolen by Meryl and had the runs during the torture sequence. He goes by the name of Johnny. :D

The Box delivery is ALSO in MGS2. You just have to go to the parcel room (the box delivery room, below the helipad) and hid in a box on the panel that fits you. Stay a while and you get shipped to that location.

Try shooting EE with the tranq. Punch her, spray her with coolant, choke hold her through the lice, turn the mic on her when she's walking the connecting fences.

When a guard goes on caution mode shoot the question mark or the exclamation point, he gets stunned.

If you take the underground route to Metal Gear Ray, you can actually SEE Ocelot in hiding! You can't really do anything about it though...however, you CAN get away with shooting the general from there. LOL.

There's a Metal Gear Ray named MGS-ROSE. If you defeat that, the Ray fight sequence ends. It's the fifth Ray to show up.

Cigarettes work like the diazepam. Equip 'em and you are a lot more still than without 'em.

With the stealth mode on, hold up a guard that will be intercepted by the other guard. Funny stuff.

Okay, that's all I can remember right now. Good stuff though, eh?

I beat Sons of Liberty for the fisrt and only time on Normal. the Game was Insanly AWSOME.. and From the Ending THERE HAS to be another one coming out.. Not talking about MG substance where you can play as snake.

The story is left open for one last game and i hope there is..

the only problem i had with Sons was that stupid part near the end when the stupid General would not stop calling me but you had to listin to them all..

Now i need to go and get the Metal gear game for the original sony.. played it once but not all the way..

I believe Konami said that they might make Raiden star his own series, while Snake stays with Philanthropy. IF this happens, we'll pretty much have two good series under one name!

I just hope they keep the Titanic references down to a minimum. *sigh*

    Jack "Raiden" = Leonardo DiCaprio
    Rose = Kate Winslet

    Jack is a pretty-boy blondie.
    Rose looks like a redhead.

The roles are reversed a bit, this time it was Rose that was hiding something. (Was that even in Titanic?)

    That whole, "Jack be careful!"

    "Jack!"
    "Rose!"
    "Jack!"
    "Rose!"

Eh, there isn't really that much...but you'd think they'd come up with something better for names, y'know?

Oh, as an aside, I forgot about one little tidbit.

In MGS2, go ahead and plant a c4 in the sea lice...go into first person, then blow it up. You get bug splattered. You die in FPV, and the camera glass shatters. You kill someone up close, your camera gets bloody. Do it in the rain, and things are a little blurred and random drops appear.

Also, when you hold up someone from behind, shoot the radio. Then proceed to have lots of fun. Why? He can't call for backup. And as long as you keep him away from doors, you get to play "cat and mouse". Shoot his arm and run away, and you'll find his accuracy SORELY lacking...shooting an AK with one arm MUST be hard. Shoot his leg and run, and see him hobble. Go into Extreme and do both...and LAUGH.

There is so far one ghost that's been heard of. In the second hold in the tanker, take a picture of the second screen. When you look at your camera shots that you saved, there should be a ghost there.

I love the *Stinger Cheat* against Vampy in MGS 2: SoL. That's the only way I could beat him in Extreme Mode.

For those that don't know the cheat, this is pretty much the way it goes: Just as soon as the boss fight begins, stand at the edge of the "death pool (I don't know what else to call it)," equip your stinger, aim, and as soon as you lock on shoot, shoot, and SHOOT! You may have to move the targeter a bit to the right after each shot, but I was able to kill him with just my stinger missiles with this trick.

Oh yeah, and infinite ammo helps too ^_^

I also remember in MGS1 when I beat it and *loved* the ending song . . . but this was way back when it first came out and I wasn't into MP3's or anything so I just recorded the ending song straight out of my TV . . . I still have the tape (though I've downloaded it of course!).

Here's a handy dandy easter egg from substance, since I have no clue (because my PS2 is currently broked) about SoL. Get a lv.2 grip guage in the Tanker episode. Get to the hold...it's easier if you use a few rations, get full life. Anyway, either doing a falling grab or whatever to the second floor, then shimmy all the way to the other side. Do the same for Hold 2. On hold 3, you should end up on the rigging platform high about the marines. Actually, you're now able to get close enough to Metal Gear to touch it! Run all the way around the platform and drop down the the dock right next to Ray's head! Viola, instant...errr, closeness.

Oh, you all might have known this already, but I didn't. The second hold has those switching projectors. They also have remotes right next to them. If you're impatient, just press the action button next to 'em, it'll switch the picture. Saves time. :D

I remember reading about that switching projectors trick in EGM . . . that was so funny.

Has anyone here played Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions for the PSX? One neat thing about it is that once you get a 100% completion on the game, a screen comes up that says "confidential" and displays a picture of Metal Gear Ray. Too bad I beat it AFTER playing MGS2 . . .

Ya got it backwards Pheonix! Integral is the japanese or PAL release that had the original and the VR missions. VR missions (the American piece of crap compared to Japan's version) only has: you guessed it, VR missions. *sigh* Kinda sucks, huh?

What were the features in Integral that weren't in VR Missions?

It sucks that we didn't get the total package, but VR missions was still really fun to me.

Alright, I just did a quick little search (since I'm hungry and want some breakfast...and possibly some lunch before heading for work) and I found this:

If you obtain the ranking of Big Boss in the main game, you have the option for becoming the Ninja in VR Missions. (This is in the American release too, though I seriously think it's unlocked differently)

If you obtain the ranking of Big Boss, you'll get a photo oppurtunity in the Photo Missions with Mei Ling! She does a whole bunch of poses for you, nothing hentai mind you, but still cool and she made the codec contacts worthwhile. (Screw Meryl!) You can also supposedly see snippets of this in SoL if you keep contacting the Colonel when he goes on the fritz in Arsenal.

There's likely more, but...I don't know too much. Including Meryl wearing Snake's Sneaking Suit...the Ninja...and other stuff...I'm pretty sure you get what you get in the American release. I'm just miffed that a couple months after MGS was released, people in Japan could get Integral and save cash, while we had no choice but to buy two separate discs. I didn't buy VR missions for just that fact. :(

Oh, and I'm not aware if it's compliant or not, but Integral is also Pocketstation Compatible. It's one of the ways to get the Ninja in VR.

Yeah, the Ninja VR missions are obtained if you complete a certain percentage of the stages in the game. The Mei Ling photo shoot is obtained by getting a 1st place ranking in I-don't-know how many of the stages. I didn't go for unlocking the Mei Ling photo shoot.

Wasn't there some mode in Integral where you could face all of the bosses in a row? And some sort of theater mode much like MGS2 substance where you could switch characters in different roles?

I actually have no idea of how many other little snippets of extras there are in the Integral set. AFAIK, Integral was released to bundle them together...however, Konami thought it moot to bring it over because the Solid packaged with Integral happened to be the English version with Japanese subtitles. So, there really is no point to get Integral (though REALLY cool for collecting) in any case.

Oh, and I've just tested it, and there IS in fact clips of the model shoot with Mei Ling in SoL. Try it out, just get to that little corridor where you meet Snake in the end, and keep contacting the colonel. It's a pretty long clip too, it seems as if she goes through about half her poses. :D
