or are they Digi-cons. think they are minicons. well. what do you think of 'em? I think they kind of suck. but thats because the three kids turned'em into stupid sport/recreational machines. 'hey dude! look at my new scooter!' lol.

its the new transformers cartoon 'Transformers Armada' I'm talking aboot. the minicons are sought after cuz they amplify the power of a transformer, either Decepticon or Autobot, if they use 'em.

There the americans go again, making it sound stupider than it actually is. It's just like a partner...

What's really wierd tho is the "Headmaster" series. Where those little (egh) "Minicons" are actually the big bots head.

I think that the whole concept is interesting how they can upgrade the transformers. Also I heard something as well, that the minicons can merge as well, I think that the three that the kids have can merge into Perceptor or something...

It was a bit corny though when they started riding over water ><

I haven't seen any of Armada but these minicons sound like a continuation of the whole Headmaster/Targetmaster/Powermaster concept of using humans to overcome the weaknesses of the transformers. I don't see what weaknesses needed to be overcome tho', given that it's not like Transformers are cold, calculating machines, they have personalities and have good reflexes, so why do they need humans to make them smarter/faster/more accurate?
Bah to them all, except the decepticon headmasters. they were cool.

I've been reading the Armada comics and, well, it does sound like the cartoon is immature compared to everything else. Even the comic is more grown up then its namesake series.

BTW the comic is a bit of a prequel to the series so far.

As for "Americans screwing things up", the original TF was American.

Anyway to get back to the point, I don't really know where I stand on these minicons. They're fine I suppose, especially if you just remember that this is one of the myriad alternate TF universes.

One little question: is TF:RiD originally Japanese or was it just animated in Japan then brought to North America?

I'm pretty sure all the guys behind RID were Japanese, although the show has a very American cheeserama crap feeling about it.

It was certainley out in Japan a good 2 years before it's US release.

    Ah.

My friends and I watched the first ep of RiD, laughed our asses off, and said we wouldnt watch it again unless we were bored and had no access to anything else.

"But you cant drive over the ocean!"
    "Anything is possible!"

The best it did was provide an explanation as to why the TFs could travel anywhere in the world in about 5 minutes in the original TF...

The only thing that sucks about that, Neph (can I call ya Neph? LOL) is that it takes the place of the Space Bridge to get to Cybertron. Which is retarded. And, making roads wherever you go? LOL, it's too wierd.

And don't even get me started on "Team Bullet Train" and somehow being able to get off the Japanese Magnet Rail system unto a traditional track...:sweat2:

Heh, yes, you can call me Neph. Everyone on SB does.

Well even the original TF had weird things going.

Even the movie... so many flaws. My favorite is when they are running inside Unicron and they run down a hallway, as they get farther away from the camera they just suddenly speed up really fast.

But theres flaws other than that, like popping eyes, vanishing characters, and a character being in two places at once.

Slags popping eyes was obviously a joke by the animators, that's not what I'd call a flaw,

This is a wicked site for various details of the TF movie - http://iocon.com/cj/tf/movie/movie.htm

I remember in one episode of the original transformers, sideswipe suddenly appears in the decepticon base, standing next to megatron. I'm guessing that there was confusion in the production notes, and it was meant to be soundwave.
Also, at one point in the series that came after the film, Rodimus' Voice suddenly becomes that of Unicron.
