OK here's the deal. I had a nice and fancy cheap motorola modem, but it broke. (Don't ask me what happened, I don't know)

So, I went to buy a US Robotics v.92, and the stupid thing doesn't connect beyond 33K. I even had to buy and install a new cable (from the outer phone connection to my bedroom) because the old one was making too many clicks (I don't get it, the old cheap modem did better!)

So I'm considering in trading for a more sturdy faulty-line-tolerant modem.

Any suggestions? Which brand / model do you recommend?

I have had great experience with Actiontec modems, not one bit of trouble.

and Rashid, DSL is great, but T1, that's not a residential use internet connection, and the thing is as expensive as hell (maybe like $700 month)

and and the fastest speed on T1 is 1.5mbps

    Now T3 or OC3, now there's a internet connect

    don't hesitate

well... luvweaver is a question of a few things... some you may find stupid...
    1. maximum port speed. which is located at youre modems properties page *I think is the second tab, in modem in the control panel*

    2. a lot of noise in the line... doubtful before you had good connection

    3. dont know what more could be :-\

    ANYWAY....

    my modem is a ROCKWELL V.90- from 1998 :p
well.... rockwell is now CONEXANT... any modem from them is good actually, don't go for anything less than a V.92, the box better have the drivers included... or be 101% XP compatible

hope i was of some help

    Thanks for your help guys!

Anyway - since i got my new job :) (yipee!!!!) i can buy myself an external US Robotics modem. Only $110. I'll buy it when I can (besides, the store is one step away from my current job! ^_^ )

Still, i only use the internet at home occasionally (i work 8 hours a day now... *sigh* ) so i think i'll stick with my old modem instead. (which i managed to put it to work :)

    Thanks!

Not unless you have multiple accounts with your internet provider, and even then trying to setup dual net pipes is a path that almost certainly will cost you a lot of money when you screw up your computer and have to pay to have someone who knows what they're doing fix your pc cause you corrupted winsock.dll or screwed up your connection routing settings. Better off as I advised you in the other thread, invest in broadband.
