Well, it's only fair, considering the most annoying gal thread ;).

Seriously, folks. Who are the final fantasy boys who make you wanna scream? I have more than a few.

I may catch heck for this, but I really don't care for Sephiroth.

Yes, yes. I know he's hot, he has a big sword, an angsty past, and he's really hot, but the character just kinda gets on my nerves.

    Here's why: (Warning: SPOILERS)

First of all, even before his death in the mako reactor, Sephiroth is certainly cold and disinterested. Granted, I know that's the way he's supposed to be. He's a general, and his profession doesn't exactly leave a ton of room for him to be sweet and caring. Even so, his personality didn't exactly endear me to him. After Jenova, it got even worse. Then, at least to me, he just became a bully. I'm sorry to those who like him, but I can't see Sephiroth as anything but. And yes, I understand that, for a villain, such things as harassing Cloud, killing Aeris and summoning Meteor are (duh) typical behavior. Even so, I have no respect for bullies (being the victim of several of them well into my teens), even if they are polygonal, fictional and hot.

And the meteor thing kind of bothers me too (to say nothing of his killing Aeris, a character I have a strong affinity for). I mean, Sephiroth's whole summoning of the thing just seemed well... whiney. "Ohhh! I'm mad at the world! And I'm superior! Hahah! Die!" Please ><;. Unmotivated, ill-explained selfishness like that is another huge turn-off for me.

I think that's the root of the problem. I just didn't find Sephiroth a truly developed or interesting character. To be fully honest, I thought Hojo was far better developed (when compared to Sephiroth) and few people really like him.

Again, not trying to offend anyone, but these are my views. I personally don't mind if other people like Sephiroth or not.

Awww poor Sephy just went through shock. I mean, why ELSE would you cut your own mother's head off? He's just nuttier than a can of worms. :p Yeah, he's cool seeming and all, but that doesn't really hide the fact that he just wants to be the ONE. *sigh* He still does look cool though. And yeah, he was an ***...and self-righteous...and painfully evil to the point he believes he's doing good (but for himself, but who DOESN'T count that? ;))...but he's still cool looking. :p

    Annoying FF guy, huh?

EDWARD!!!! YOU FREAKING PANSY!!!! I hate him. God do I hate him. I mean, seriously, HIDE!? What the HECK is that!? "Oh no! My health dropped, gotta run away because my hair's mussy!"

His motivation is great and all, but dammit, he STILL hides. Plus the fact that he's utterly useless. I mean, he has Bard songs and all, but c'mon, how many of you actually use 'em? Huh? What else does he do? Oh, right, he's probably "swooned" about 50 times DURING his stay in the party. Then he gets hurt and can't get up again? And all he does then is...yup! Play his harp! :D

I mean, c'mon! Not to mention he looks like a Red Mage from FF1, but see...he's Edward, and CAN'T pull that off. He ain't a pimp like the Red Mage.

Who else is annoying...I don't know, but know that I'll be putting in another two cents as soon as I think of him! :p

Wait, nevermind, I got one. Khimari. He's supposedly the best character in the NTSC release of FFX since he starts in the middle and can work outside. But, to be honest, you can't do crap with him until you get some key spheres...so, it's moot to level him up until the end of the game. He gets stuck too fast because of those locks. Other than that though, he's funny looking when he's hasted. :D

Heh. Well before I say mine, I just have to say, the one thing I hate about Neo-Sephiroth fans is they don't understand one thing: He is unlike any other Final Fantasy antagonist. Everyone chalks Sephiroth up to be just another bad-*** "Oo! I wanna destroy the world, 'cause I'm so evil, and I can, so BLAH!" type. In actuality, Sephiroth (and possibly Sin if you really wanna call that an atagonist) is anything but.

(Some spoilers here, sort of, I guess)

Kefka, Ex-Death, all them just wanted to kill everyone and rule the world for themselves because they were evil, and that's that. With Sephiroth, it actually went into that he wanted to, if I'm not mistaken, and I may be as it's been a long time since I played the game, cleanse the planet of the "imperfects" and he wanted to kill everything (including himself, might I point out) to reach the Lifestream, etc. If anything, Sephiroth was on the lowest pedestal of "bullies". Also, if I remember correctly, I believe Cloud tried to **** with Sephiroth and pissed him off first, so that whiney little ***** had it coming. :p Though as I said, it's been a while, so I might be wrong. :) Feel free to point out if I am.

(Some spoilers here, sort of, I guess end)

Now for my least favorite male...

For now I'll just have to say Palmer because I just found him an annoyance; he offered no real purpose, no comedic relief, nothing. I think it would've been better if he was just taken out.

****FFVII spoilers****I think a lot of people seem to believe that Sephiroth was only summoning meteor to kill everyone. This is not the case. He wanted to cause a wound in the planet so the lifestream would all gather at that point, which he would merge with and become God Like. Recently, I have prefered Kefka to be honest, but I still think he's a good villan, and more than just a bully. Aeris' death was brilliant. It was brilliant because I didn't want her to die. That's all I got to say about that. ****~fin~****

Edward is grand, if only for comic relief. Without him, the lines "You spoony bard!" wouldn't exist. Just imagine how much of a tragedy that'd be. Sure, he' probably the worst fighter in any game ever, sure his great heroic deed is getting up to play the harp when he has a cold. He's funny because of his ineptitude.

I never liked Quina or Zidane much. Quina's got less than no personality, and don't talk proper. Zidane is just a week main character, I thought.

Hrrmf..I agree with MR. ArkAnjil here. Sephiroth at least had a reason (Altough ut wasn't any reason normal people would act upon)!
    First of all:

    **********SPOILERS i guess*********

Well, MR. Sephy here was an ancient right? In a way, that is.
So he's not COMPLETELY all wrong when he said that they where being used by the "imperfects" as you may call them. They offered themselves for the world and for the well being of others. And one more thing i like about him; He READS! God**** he read the entire library in the ShinRa Mansion in a couple of days? (It's better with villains who read, than villains who don't. The reading ones are often smarter, therefore it is possible they have more "depth" in their case of destroying the world blablabla. But hey. Who's defending the bugger?

*********End of that spoiler i guess (was it really?)******

Hmm..I am quite a philosopher myself and i do believe that he wasn't an EVIL person. To be honest i do not believe good or bad exists. There are always just 2 different opinnions.
Who desides of good or bad/right or wrong?

OK, to the case. Annoying must be....Tidus.
No offence to anyone, but i can't stand him. He was one of the reasons that i stopped playing FFX. One of the major problems was the reappearing use of the phrase "My old man". Hey Tidus! We went sick of it the twentieth time we heard it! Can't you just say "My dad" or "father" once in a while? Puh-lease

It may have been more clear in the Japanese release, where I *think* he called Jecht either "'toosan" or "oyaji" to call to his lesser amount of respect to Jecht. It's in the word play, which sadly did not make it into the NTSC or PAL versions...though it WOULD have been nice to have Tidus actually say his lines with more variety.

*thinks maybe he should go and rent the full movie DVD from anime place just to know what he's saying ferreals.*

And yeah, Edward had the great one-liners. But still, out of all the FF characters, he was the most annoying to use. It'd have been cooler if it was Rydia saying that spoony bard click though. Why? I dunno, some small little girl calling Tellah spoony, it is to laugh.

This is probably why I shouldn't post when tired and severely pissed off at student housing.

I understand Sephiroth's reason for summoning Meteor. I understand that he wanted to wound the Planet to summon Lifestream and therefore become God (or god-like). But the arrogance behind that decision (i.e. I'm Jenova's son and mom and I are superior to you humans! hahah die!) didn't fly with me. I also disliked the fact that this was the only side of his character we got to see. Granted, he had a motivation other than "I'm evil and want to destroy you all!" (as I may have mistakenly implied in my previous post), but even that motivation wasn't complex enough for me, because it made up his entire character and it was, frankly, a motivation I did not, could not, will never see as anything but arrogant and bullying.

Also, I don't remember Cloud doing anything to "****" with Sephiroth aside from trying to (SPOILER)

protect Tifa and his home after Sephiroth injured her and killed Zack

which leads me to believe Cloud isn't necessarily "asking for it", at least no more so than the rest of the planet is "asking for it". I mean, why does Sephiroth feel he has a right to damage the planet and become god? Because he was genetically tampered with? Because no one told him about it? Granted, these are terrible things for anyone to endure but even so, that's not the fault of the human race.

Yes, I understand that Sephiroth isn't a one-dimensional stereotype. But I think he is two-dimensional bully who could have used a little more fleshing out. It's just my opinion again, so nobody take offense, please.

Yes, very much play FFVI. FFVI is one of the greater FF games ever. Why? It's the first time since FF1 that you get a freeform party. Skills are VERY limited to each character...with the exception of magic...but still, when Cyan casts Fire3, it isn't as effective as when Celes casts it. The story is GREAT, if you pay attention to the individual stories. It's not the best, but it's really really good.

And if you're talking about IV, do play it too. It's really fun, and a bit more challenging that FFVI. Why? You seem to die easier. And it seems you ALWAYS need to level up. But, it's a great game and home to one of the coolest characters ever. Kain. The poor naive fool with the cool armor and awesome special ability.

Edit: Does anyone else but me think that Hojo was the real culprit? I mean he expected the pieces of Jenova to come back together to go and fulfill the primary mission of becoming all powerful through Meteor. Sephiroth was pretty much doing what he was "programmed" to do. Hojo sorta (and I use that very loosely) implied that this is Sephiroth's main agenda. But, y'know, I'm probably way off.

In any case, *I* didn't take offense, I know he's a jerk while fulfilling whatever it he wants to fulfill, but...I still think he looks cool ;)

Just one more thing here, Jenova wasn't an Ancient, this is a common misconception. Jenova is reffered to as the "Terror From The Skies", so it's only natural that Sephiroth turned a bit screwy. Besides, he was better than everyone else. He effortlessly manipulated everything to his own favour. He would have succeeded too, if it wasn't for those damn pesky kids. I think Cloud only defeated him because he was a clone, and he ganged up on him with his bunch of mates. There's also a chance he wasn't at his full strength at the end, what with recently having come out of the chrysalis and having used his power to summon meteor. How Cloud defeated him the first time is a mystery though. Sephiroth is good. But evil.

hmm..yeah. I guess. But, he wasn't really a bad person...he was just driven to it. And hey, who wouldn't freak out if you find out that you are a biological experiment?

I don't like Zidane much... but he has quite a funny moment in the credits of FF8.

I won't go into detail, to avoid spoilers.

    Annoying FF characters?

    Let's see....

Eiko: She's an annoying brat....she's powerful, but annoying.

Edward: Biggest pansy the game has made.. seriously, a bard? OOH, LOOK AT ME, I'LL KILL THEM BY SINGING!

Seifer: OMG! Arrogant prick, that's all I'm gonna say.

Cid (FF4): Pointless idiot, who looked stupid. I hate him too.

Shadow: Ooh, I'm so mysterious, oops, I'm dead, wait no, I'm not.....blarg, stupid guy.

I think that's it for now.
