The year of 2004 had alot of wonderful sporting events. The Euro 2004, Copa America, Athen 2004, the World Series in Baseball, Super Bowl, NHL Stanley Cup Finals...you name it.

But what was your most memorable sport event in 2004?

I have three favorites, and yes, two of them are within Soccer.

#3. FC Porto vs AS Monaco - Champions League Final 2004

Who would thought that these two "underdog" teams would go the entire way to the finals? Porto with it's skillfull players and Monaco with it's hardworking team and many talents. Although it was Porto who won the cup, it's still good to see that there are other teams that can win the Champions League...without spending tons of cash on star players.

#2. Liu Chang of China wins 110m Hurdles Olympic Gold

Yes, the first ever Chinese atheltic gold medal came by this 21 year Shanghai chap, Liu Chang. He dominated throughout the competition and in the finals, he shone. Running at 12.92, he "marked" the new World Record, and taking home the Olympic Gold for China.

#1. Greece winning the Euro 2004

That's right. Greece taking home the entire cup! This was such a surprise, the greeks played with a solid defence with Trainos Dellas in the command. A team that showed that hard work and great teamplay could beat teams such as France, Czech Republic, and in the finals, beating the hosts Portugal.

That's my most memorable sport moment of 2004, let's hope that the 2005 will be as wonderful as 2004.

By far minw would have to be the Sox winning the AL championship over the Yankees. Greatest comeback in MLB history :) Then of course they went on to win the Series, but God... the AL championship was so much more exciting.

Especially for the British public, team Great Britain did exceptionally well in the Olympics this time round with Kelly Holmes making the highlights with 2 golds in the 800 and 1500 metre track races. Amir Khan's effort in the boxing was remarkable and it must also be noted for what this 17-year old achieved - a silver medal.

Greece's winning of Euro 2004 left everyone saying... 'WTF!?!'. Really hit me and everyone by suprise, although they were rather boring to watch, they did play well but I personally think they had some luck with them.

    This is my line-up:

Number 1: Boston Red Sox win over Yankees
Im not putting this one first because im a boston fan....just because of the odds they had to face. I mean....down in the series 3-0. Can you imagine any team beating powerhouse yankess 4 times in a row? All that money and still no championship!

Number 2: Greece winning EURO 2004
Now as Shen mentioned....WTF!!!? Who saw this coming? Well, they came, they saw....and they conquered. Congrats to greece...2004 Euro champs. Can they pull it off again?

Number 3: Iraq win over Portugal in Athens
Another WTF moment...I can clearly say that I was stunned when I have saw the game. Iraq just tore the portugues team apart! I believe 4-2 was the end result.

Alot of surprise and WTF last year...all I can say is what will happen next?

Theres only one thing that really stood out in sports for me

    Ireland's Disaterious Olympics
I think we made a real bunch of ejit's out of ourselves at the olympics. We managed to win only one gold medal but that has been taken away cause the horse that one it failed a dope test.
Then theres that psycho that jumped the guy in the marathon that cost him his gold medal.

I was also surprised to see Paula Radcliff do so bad in the olympics. I think a lot of people weren't happy at the way she did in the olympics. I think when she decided to drop out of a race because she was last and she had been out laped really made people angry about her.
