It was shown in the recent New York Anime Convention and it's gonna be released don't know whether direct to DVD or to movie theater, but gonna be released by Sony/Tristar in America.

[EDIT] It's gonna be released to theaters on April 4th, but in New York and LA theaters only [/EDIT]

Yeah, there was a whole weekend that they showed it, I think, at the El Capitan here in LA. Unfortunately, I was busy on opening night and had no money to go see it. :(

I'm confused, are you people talking about Knocking on Heaven's Door? Or some live action Bebop movie?

I wouldn't mind seeing Bebop on the big screen...

Dont worry there wont be a live action movie coming out.. But like a few other anime's they are going to release the Bebop movie.. Knocking on heavens door in select theaters.

So odd are you will have to keep your eyes open to find out where they are going to show it.. because i dont think it will be like pokenmon and be at every theater..

Argh,I wish it would be in every theater,I wanted to see Spirited Away at the theater but there wasnt one that played that movie anywhere near me.Maybe since Cowboy Bebop is popular it will be in more theaters than usual anime movies are.

I highly doubt that Cowboy Bebop movie will be released on all major theaters. One, I couldn't find this info on any other sites; and two, releasing a movie based on a anime known mostly by anime/scifi community is a pretty risky move for any distributor (Columbia/Tristar for this instant) since most of the public never heard of it, and the second they hear it's a animated movie majority of the movie goers would be like "It's a ****ing cartoon, what am I some kid?" The distributors would lose profits than gaining profits on this move.

There is one news, don't know if it's true or not, found it on a couple of sites but Columbia/Tristar plans to release both the original japanese w/ subtitles, the english dubbed version in selected theaters. And the official release date in America is April 4th in NY/LA only then opening in other theaters on later dates

[EDIT] I messed up, Tristar dropped distribution for the movie but another Sony company took it's place Samuel Goldwyn Films. As if anyone cares about who's distributing the movie here. [/EDIT]
