Basic to many probably but I to me this is unknown territory. I just want to know how to convert mp3 files to music playable cds, (wav files I believe). Guide me in the right direction.

    Cheers

Nero is a pretty easy way to go. Just drag your MP3s into your compilation and Nero will convert and burn them. Of course, it costs some cash.

This is why I use k3b. Does all the same stuff and then some (convert mp3s, create videoCDs, burn DVDs etc), and is just as easy. Not to mention free. Of course, you'd need linux (or FreeBSD) to run it heh.

WinXPs built in CD burning capability can also convert MP3 to WAV and burn. I don't remember exactly how, as I no longer have XP. Something like creating a playlist in Windows Media Player and selecting burn. It will go through and convert all the files and burn them.

If you just want to convert to WAV, the quickest way I can think of is to use Winamp's disk out plugin. Save whatever is played as a WAV in the directory of your choosing. (well, everything but WMA, unless you get an old WMA in plugin)

For the people who look into this and are also looking for other options:

Winamp also comes with a .wav output. Just point to where you want it to save, and you'll get the .wav you're looking for, so you can burn if you're not using Nero.

The thing I like about that is that the quality pretty much remains the same as the .mp3. The thing I HATE though...is that the files are gargantuan.

well.. in nero if you have the Nero express you can select Audio CD in the menu.. and if you got the regular nero you can go through the wizard.

but your question is already answered by MO
