This Korean movie was the number one hit in Korea several years ago. It had such an impact that it started the trend of Korean romantic-comedies featuring the "sassy" girl theme. It's my favorite Korean movie, as well as a lot of my brother's friends. My college friends haven't seen it yet, but they will... :)

It's supposed to be based on writings (autobiographical?) on the Internet by a guy in Korea, who turned them into a movie script or something like that. (There's even a part in the movie where this is mentioned.) The story is really good, with some pretty unpredictable parts. The comedy parts are pretty funny, and the best thing about this movie is how easily the average single male can relate to the main male character... that's cuz he's not a generic "bishie" Asian star, but actually looks typical, and even a lil chubby! As for the main female character, she's one of the prettiest Korean stars (Jun Ji Hyun, whose pic I'm attaching), and the movie was so successful that she's the most on-demand actress (or so I heard, but it sounds believeable). And if you like the song "Canon in D," it's one of the theme songs.

Anyway, if you haven't seen "My Sassy Girl," you should! (Buy the simple Korean DVD version with English subtitles, or the DTS version, but not the VCD or expensive timecapsule editions.) Great for all ages, lots of fun, a pretty actress you can't keep your eyes off, twisting love story, funny drunk people, powerful drama, and easy for the average anime-lover to enjoy!

I have seen it, and I own it too.
It's a great movie, and it's autobiographical...I believe. It's not your typical comedy if you say so :)

I got the VCD 2 years ago, and it's worth every penny.

    Jun Ji Hyun...Mmm...

There was the manga version, which I've read the first issue for. It's pretty interesting, with a few changes from the movie, and the art style is kinda funky. But I prefer the movie.

I hear it was all the rage in Korea!
I've been wanting to see My Sassy Girl for a long time. I envy you. =__= Although, I took a look at the manga and I must admit, I was a bit turned away. I guess I'm a sissy...
I still really want to see the movie; I love romantic comedies and the story sounds great. Jun Ji Hyun is really pretty.
Really sera-chan, where can I buy it with english subtitles? Or, do you think it'll ever come to America?

I've never seen that site before. Hmmm, too bad it says "Out of stock." I ordered the original Korean DVD release (with English subtitles) from Yesasia.com, although it's not Region-free. (Don't get the Chinese VCD version, which has Chinese dub in one speaker and Korean dub in the other....it's horrible!) They also have the Director's Cut version for $15, which basically has the deleted scenes put in so it's much longer. (I think they're probably the same extra scenes in the Bonus features section of the original DVD.) Yesasia.com is where I order pretty much all of my Asian media.
