So what myths or stories are your favorites?

Here are a few of mine:

The myth of Tantalus (a man who fed his son to the gods to test their omniscience)

Oedipus Rex/Oedipus Tyrannos (one a lot of people know; Oedipus killed his father (by accident) and married his mother (also by accident))

Eros and Psyche (or, how Love and the Soul get together :) )

Can't recall the names of the two title characters (hence not knowing the title either), but the whole bit that the poem Romeo and Juliet was based on was based on (if that sentence even makes sense).
The Odyssey's fun if you get a good translation (NEVER read one by WHD Rouse). The best part is probably Polyphemus the Cyclops yelling "Nobody has stabbed me in the eye!".
I also liked the Egyptian legend about how Set killed his brother Osiris, and then Osiris became god of the underworld (I think it was Osiris, anyway ...).
There was also this Japanese legend about a samurai named Tadatsune who had to save the populous from an angry goddess ... I co-wrote a script years ago with a true master of the craft a few years back. There's some real heroism there, if you get the complete story.
The Trojan War has to be the ultimate, though, just because the whole thing could have been prevented if Paris wasn't such a self-centred moron.

This is true. I laughed during the part in the Iliad where he hits Diomedes in the ankle with an arrow, because Paris is SO happy over the fact that he actually shot someone despite the fact that it was a very bad shot and didn't do anything anyway. "I SHOT YOU! HAHAHAHA!"

Oh, and I can't forget the Oresteia, that's classic. Wife kills husband. Son kills mother. FURIES. Yeah, it's pretty cool. :)

well, I haven't heard much myths that are not Roman or Greek. They only taught us those in the 6th grade. Anyways, I like most of them. I especially like the ones with Aphrodite(Venus, I think).

I like all kinds of myths and old stories. I espiacally like Egyptian and Greek myths. My favorite is probably the Odessy just because it includes all those different creatures. Oh and i also love Scottish and Irish Myths. It may have something to do with the fact that I'm Irish and Scottish. i also just like it that there are so many things that are so unbelievable yet you can almost see them when you read about them.

I like all mythologies. I know a lot about greek mythologie because I took a class on the classical worldview last year.

The Iliad and the Odessey are great. The story of Herecles is good too. The Theogeny, the colected stories of the gods, is very interesting too. The origins of some of the gods, like Athena and Aphrodite, are pretty funny.

I don't know much about other Mythologies but from what I do know they they are probably just as good as the greek ones.
