So who else watched the dubbed version of Naruto? I know I did, only because they showed an encore at 10PM, since I was working at 9.

For the most part, i thought it was allright, there was just a couple of things that were kind of stupid.

When Naruto transforms into the "sexy Jutsu" clouds cover everything (it WAS expected though...)

Applying to above, everyone's nosebleed is edited and taken out, wah!

Almost everyone sucks at saying names' prounciation in Japanesee in that show.

That's preety much the down sides. The up sides is the they're showing two episodes a week (which is supposed to be good for toonami) and not all the action is taken out.

So what does everyone else think of Naruto's dubbing in english?

I absolutely cannot stand Naruto's voice. And is it me or does Ebisu sound like James from Pokemon? Same VA?

I was actually quite impressed with the quality of the Naruto dub. I felt that all the characters I heard were well-cast, and Naruto's American VA especially gets the attitude and the laugh right. I don't think Ebisu and James have the same VA, however. If I remember correctly, Ebisu is voiced by Crispin Freeman (Zelgadiss, second half of Slayers thru the rest of the series; Touga, Utena), while James is voiced by Eric Stuart (Gourry in Slayers). They did sound kinda similar though. But hey, if you can get that in Japanese voices it stands to reason you can get it in American voices too.

I am pleased that they chose to leave jutsu and sensei untranslated. I am also pleased that the amount of editing really was minimal, and generally not noticable. Sure, they took out the blood, which makes the nosebleeds a whole lot less amusing, and which will affect some things later on, but in general the animation was left intact.

Wasn't happy with the changed opening and ending stuff, but I can deal with that.

Ummm...the dub pronounciations were actually quite good. In fact, I was simply astounded; I was certain that we'd be subjected to the standard run of American mispronounciations. There were a few minor flubs, but nothing wince-worthy. About the only wince-worthy pronounciation thing was the commercial announcer guy constantly mispronouncing Naruto.

I watched it, and I thought it was okay. I thought that Naruto sounded like a little kid the whole time.

I had heard a lot of things about this anime, and it seemed okay for the first episode, I will most likly continue to watch it.

Naruto on Toonami was not that bad. I was impressed on how little they changed. I also agree that taking out the nosebleeds did take away the humor, but I think I can let it pass. Another thing that I didn't like was Naruto's voice. I do not think that I can ever get used to his dubbed voice. I only fear how Kakashi and other characters will sound. :( I also noticed that they did mispronounce some words but at least we know better and are not mispronouncing along with them.

Y'might want to talk in english. =P Meaning, don't abbreviate or use "net speak" too much, as it'll confuse readers.

But, like I said, I'll give american anime released a bigger hand when they deem it necessary to just release subtitles. It'll also be cheaper for the community of anime-collectors since they don't need to hire people to do the voice overs in english. That'll also get anime overseas faster.

Anyway, dubs are much better now than they were, say, a decade and a half ago. I'm still in slight awe of Bebop's and Azumanga Daioh's dubbing...though I have yet to hear Naruto's dub...I still shudder to think of something purely Japanese (ie: ninjas and lore) to be put into english. I'll edit this once I get to watch an episode, to better suit my opinion.

I guess the dubbing for Naruto was a bit underhyped. It turned out to be a really impressive in the end (after re watching it without people screaming in the back)

As far as Dubbing Anime to get overseas goes, how do you think that the industries are supposed to make money that way?

Not exactly. They spend more time in the studio to get those dubs in. In fact, if they just made it 16.99 with only subs, they'd probably make *just* as much money doing it that way, than by charging 19.99-24.99-30.99 for each DVD because of a 5.1 english dub track.

I'll be much happier if they just re-mastered DVDs into 5.1 japanese tracks. They did something similar to ROD TV in that they spend extra money on making the tracks 5.1, and that just killed the price for people making them 29.99 for EACH DVD. They may be willing to pay that price in Japan (FLCL is a good example at 29.99 US per 1 episode DVD), but not here. I think most people would be, too. More people just stay straight in the Japanese track than go into the English anyway. Either that, or save even more money and have them put the English track into 2.1 instead of remastering it into 5.1.

I have yet to watch it and I don't know if I will. I do have them though. I heard Sakura voice and I wanted to stab myself with a sharp object.

They may be getting better but some things they should not change. I guess now that I have seen Japanese I'll stick to that.

Yeah...I watched them and last night's episodes. I love Naruto! I especially love anything that has to do with Ninjas and the art of ninjitsu. Omg...the "sexy jitsu" was soooo funny. I was literally laughing so hard on the floor. Thank god they covered things upo though...the eyes of the guys here would most likely be plasted on the television screen from here on out! lol. But yeah...I absolutely love it! ^_^

They took out the nosebleeds... :(
Now instead of being blasted away by the blood of their noses....they just fly away.....

But all in all, it was great. Better than I expected it to be.

lol I don't think they would know what they mean.... I think it's more of the fact it's blood.... that seems rather taboo in America... at least when it comes to stuff children are suposedly watching. As if a kid couldn't turn on CNN and see an uncut video showing the victims of a car bombing in Isreal. -_- minor details.
