I've also heard this from several sources. Out of lack of knowledge, what else has ShoPro licensed?

Anyway, this is good news for me. I'll have to look into buying a copy. I hope it gets released soon. Any info on that, or is it still too early?

Shin, I fixed it :p yes, you are in the right forum!

    OKAY! http://turnerinfo.com/newsitem.aspx?P=CARTOON&CID01=5991e4de-e163-4bac-bbf5-e81422aa3796

seems CN will be showing it, but I hate this description!

"Naruto: Twelve years ago, a nasty demon decimated a village but was contained in a baby who is now a student at a ninja academy. But this antisocial boy does not know that he is possessed. As he evolves as a ninja, his inner demon gives him more and more powers. To become a master ninja, he must learn to control his powers without destroying those around him. The series is scheduled to air in third quarter."

I bolded what made me mad past the run on sentences and such. Naruto in no way is antisocial!!! The dictionary says it means : Behaving in a manner that violates the social or legal norms of society.

But it's a waste of time to email those people to fix it >< boy I love Naruto (the character).

Nartuo licensed!?....er...i mean, Naruto Licensed!? (sorry, had to do it)
While I higly love the series, I dont think putting it on cartoon network would be a smart idea. Why!? Because I still havent finished downloading it (KT has slow computer).
But anyways, here's my response "NOOOOOOO!"
And I think those people should really get a dictionary. I thought people Ignored Naruto on purpouse!

Alrighty then, Pedro. (In-joke, Excel Saga)

If this news really is accurate, then I'm interested. Even if that info is wrong, I've heard nothing but good about Naruto, and I'm really interested in getting it. I can't wait until it's released!

[EDIT] Thanks, Ciel. I was wondering for a minute. :p

Okay, here I got more information about who licensed it etc. (yes a lot of etc.!) Yes, ShoPro Entertainment who will be merging with Viz took it. The Senior Vice President comes across as a very capable man who knows what he is talking about. So I hope for a very well done unbutchered release in NA.

Hopefully this guy knows what he's talking about. I dont wanna see another liar.
And I as well, hope, pray and beg that they dont kill the series. Its a really good one to go to waste.
    Yes, I know....I said "beg".

It really does sucks. I never imagined it in CN. Worse for me that I don't have CN for a while due to failed negotiations with the cable provider :(

Cartoon Network?! At least the DVD release should still be okay, right? I mean, look at Outlaw Star (Check out the forum too. ;) ) They took out an episode when they aired it, but when they put it on DVD, it was fine!

Why would Cherry take away the keyboard?

    lol.

Anyways, Ive heard from sources at school....my friend actually (big Naruto fan-girl), that they are indeed butchering up some of the show.
All I can remember is that they are taking out one of my favourite characters, The Perverted Hermit.
Lol, not litterally taking him out, but just hack off the good and funny stuff.

That's very dissapointing. Considering when he entered the show, it really freshened the anime up, it brought it back to life somehow and I really liked the show more. I just hope Orochimaru doesn't spit out lollipops instead of swords.

I think it'll just be worth it if you buy the DVD's. Really eh?
Nothing cut, full intros, the real thing. Most likely, CN will screw up (once again) with Naruto, but let us all give one pray a night that they don't....

Okay, people, why don't you just all stop crying about how CN is going to ruin it or how you heard this or that rumor about what's going to happen to the series or what have you. Honestly and truly, it could always be worse. For example....

Naruto could have been licensed by 4Kids Entertainment, in which case you can be guaranteed a highly edited, English-only release aimed at the 8-12 age group. Oh, and the music would have been changed too.

Since Cartoon Network did not, in fact, license the series for American release (they are merely airing it on television in America), they can't be blamed for most of what happens to the series. Sure, there may be some fairly superficial editing to remove blood, and a few episodes here and there might be cut, but for the most part it should be okay.

Or it could have been licensed by ADV, and then we would be almost guaranteed a sub-par translation, poor dubbing, and crappy boxes for box sets. Well, unless they really like the series, and then they do a half-way decent job. Most of the time.

I know very little about ShoPro, but what I have seen information-wise gives me some amount of hope. We should be able to expect a decent, bilingual release, and hopefully we'll get a decent episode count per DVD (as this is a freaking long series and all that jazz).

If you're really worried, write a polite letter to ShoPro, requesting that they do a good job bringing your favorite (or one of your favorite) series to America. Just whining to an online community about how the series got released and how you heard rumors about all the horrible things that will be done to it does no good whatsoever. Remember, rumors are just rumors.

From the people who brought you titles like Hamtaro and Taro the Space Alien comes Naruto! lol.. well they did Inuyasha as well. I'm sure that they'll do a good job of choosing voice actors for the dub version. And seeing as how Inu is shown on Adult Swim it's possible that Naruto will be shown on that too, err.. if Adult Swim exists anymore (I've been watching Canadian tv only recently).

How the heck are they going to get rid of Oiroke no Jutsu and Harem no Jutsu and all the other ero-stuff? Maybe they won't even bother to, I'd love to hear the complaints from parents about that :p It's not like kids don't already know all that stuff from watching other shows.

I think we should add a bit more....you know. Considering its Cartoon Network were talking about. Its not exactly The Blood and Gore Channel, but its not Kiddy for Kiddies either (for the least, which it Adult Swim). So Considering the channel's status....I wouldn't be surprised if he did spit out something around a lollypop, Ciel.

You know,i hate doing posts like this, giving people the bad news. But has anyone heard on the Naruto game that was supposed to be coming out? Well, thanks to Naruto being licensed, the super cool "Narutime Hero!" game (for GameCube) may not be realeased "not for months, but maybe for a year. Most likely two!". One of the guys that worked on the game said it to me in person on MegaCon 2005, on Orlando,Florida. But hey, we got lucky since they let us play the game there!

So anyways, the game is another biggie thanks to Naruto being licensed!

    To those who complain...

I know CN airs cut footage but it isn't THAT bad. They show a lot more than many other channels are willing to, the only way you're going to get much better is on paid programming. The show will be cut, practically all anime that airs in the US is, but the DVD probably won't be.
Personally, my biggest fear is the voice actors. For example, I like Naruto's original voice actor but if the English guy sounds anything like that I'll probably end up shooting myself. That voice would be way too annoying in English (my opinion). But seriously, usually it's the voiceovers that kill anime for me.
