    Been through one? More than one? If so, which? What was your experience like? What advice would you give anyone who might go through one but hasn't yet?

    I've a-been through several hurricanes, a few minor earthquakes, and a water spout that drifted over to land. >D None of them were fun. Well... sort of.

    Hurricanes are actually sort of cool. Except for the fact that they leave you without power or running water after they've hit (if they've hit you full force), they're not that bad. I love the wind and rain, and I love the excitement that is produced before they hit. (Another bad thing is that, once they're gone, they take all the wind with them -- and it's SO HOT afterwards!)

    (Please do note that I love the weather and I was once determined to become a meteorologist. I still would, too, if it didn't involve physics. x_o ^__^; Teehee~)

    The water spout was freaky -- like a mini hurricane. Scared the heck out of us because it was so sudden. Twas scary! ^_^;

    And earthquakes... There was one last night, in the middle of the night, and I actually woke up because of it. Let me tell you -- there is NOTHING freakier than feeling solid ground move when you're in bed (and my bed is weird and shakes a tad more than it should -- sturdy, but scary ^^). Also, my closet door's kinda broken, so it would kinda bang on itself and make that eerie clanky noise. Freaks. Me. Out.

    I HATE earthquakes. ;_;

    *sarcasm* Yeah, my island is the BEST place to live! ^__^ */sarcasm*

    I feel sorry for ya bub but there in the NY Metropoitan area natural disasters are rare but do happen that worst that really happened was Tropical Strom Flyiod in 1999 and nothing really bad happened but the worst was the recent blackout that struck the north east evne thought it only lasted 6 hours here it was the worst. Always have lots of water and flashlights and batteries.

    I kinda love and hate Hurricanes at the same time. Its cool and fun when its happening, and it gets cool, thats always a plus on a tropical island.

    But when the hurricane leaves, it takes the water, electricity, and cable with it, and That SUCKS! I'm so glad Isabel missed us since i was watching Trigun at the time on CartoonNetwork, and if i had missed an episode, i wouldve been a natural disaster myself! :p

    When I was less than a year old, I experienced Hurricane Iwa while on Kauai. Then when I was 10 years old, I experienced Hurricane Iniki which was on September 11th. It's weird how that's the same month and day as the 9-11 terrorist hi-jacking, yet people here don't even pay tribute to Hurricane Iniki anyway, especially when it did millions and millions of bucks worth of damage to Hawaii. The worst thing about it was that out of the entire Pacific Ocean, the eye of Hurricane Iniki passed DIRECTLY through my tiny lil island. Some people even experienced the awesome "calm" of the eye when it passed through their place.

    Then in my first year of college, in Washington, I experienced the earthquake in northern Washington (it was rated about 6 or 7). It shook my building while I laid in my top bunk in the morning. I thought to myself "What the hell?" Then after 5 seconds I thought "Damnit it better stop already cuz I'm too tired to climb down the bunk bed." After 5 more seconds it stopped, followed by the fire alarm. :mad: So I ended up having to get up anyway.
