Well I haven't been able to post anything in a while so I guess I'll start with this.

At the end of the month(30th Sept) Manga UK will be releasing Evangelion Death and Rebirth on VHS and DVD. I'm not sure if this list is finalised but from what I know the DVD will contain these features:

Audio commentary from Amanda Winn Lee (English language director and voice of Rei Ayanami)
'Mokuji Interactive Feature': this allows the viewer to select from an on-screen, chapter specific index of Eva-related terms, character descriptions, and other valuable information while viewing the film
    Photo gallery
    Original Japanese trailers
    Japanese production credits
    'End Of Evangelion' preview
    Manga previews
    Web links
    Interactive menu
    Scene access

As far as I know Death and Rebirth is pretty much just a recap of the TV series with some extra background information about things like the Second Impact. The second half of the film is all new animation however most of it is taken from what was to be the End of Evangelion film so the Death and Rebirth kind of ends halfway through what would be EOE so it's a real cliffhanger ending. It's probably the least essential of the three Evangelion releases(TV, Death and Rebirth and End of Evangelion) but if your a real fan it's definitely a must have. Plus your not likely to see the End of Evangelion being released in Europe(or the US for that matter) any time soon.

Also probably the best show so far being released, Generator Gawl, is out on DVD. As of yet they've only released the first volume but the second should be coming shortly. I have it unsubbed on VCD and it's pretty damn cool. The only thing I could possibly criticise is that almost half of all fights take place in very low light conditions and so are quite hard to see. It's 13 eps and will eventually come out on a total of 4 DVDs.

I'm almost certain that the DVD will have the original Jap dub with English subs.

Right does anyone actually read beyond the first couple of lines of a post. Like I said Death and Reirth is the least essential of all the Evangelion released but if you are a fan(a real big fan let's say) you might find yourself unconsciously walking into a shop, stop for a minute and wonder what you came in for in the first place then suddenly find yourself gravitating towards the DVD section, pick up a copy of Death and Rebirth and before you know it you've paid your money and left the shop DVD in hand because that's just how much of a hold Evangelion has over your subconscious mind. Great :)

Might pick it up sometime, mainly since I can barely remember WTH happened towards the end of the TV series.

BTW exiztone, that image in your sig messes up the pages, resize it or something, there's no way it needs to be that large.

I must read up on the wholoe eva movie *thing*, cos I have two mpg files... both around half an hour to 45 minutes long, both called end of evangelion...
is one of them death & rebirth? or is the real "end of eva" feature length?

Mordeth: What you have is the same movie as I have(you gave it to me) and it is the movie the End of Evangelion. The second half of Death and Rebirth is basically the first half of the End of Evangelion. If you haven't watched it yet the first half of the EOE is cool Angel-Stomping action and well the second half is very much like the original eps 25/26 only worse(or better). Fortunately I liked the original ending so the second half is ok although I still prefer the original ending.

Oh and be prepared, you'll probably be just a little surpised by what happens in the first five minutes or so. It's certainly something that hasn't been seen in any non-hentai anime. I was just lucky nobody else was here when I was watching it or they would really have thought I was into some weird ****.

Well it was more like Shinji accidentally pulled the bedclothes off and then on seeing Asuka in the nip decided 'what the hell seeing as I'm here and all, nothing better to do' or not.

But anyway it's not like it was premeditated or anything Shinji kinda hit rock bottom and then nothing mattered any more, moral decency went out the window head first. I suppose the director, Hidaeki Ano, put in to show just how ****ed up Shinji was at the time.
