Well, I Know a lot of you (and by a lot I mean very few of you) have been waiting to see yet another picture from moi considering my most recent picture on here is probably about four months old, at least. So, alas, I was doing a picture of one of my RP characters and my girlfriend's RP character, both characters from the Wheel Of Time world (a book series by author Robert Jordan) and alas, this here is the end result.

The male character featured on the right (our left) is my Asha'man by the name of Lucovares Caeyl Nazobel (Loo-koh-vair-rees Say-eel Nah-zoh-bil), who is the Warder to the girl (on our right), a Green Ajah Aes Sedai by the name of Sorana Arykand (Sore-rah-nuh Air-rih-kahnd).

It took me a while to work out positions and especially Sorana's clothing scheme. Lucovares' was fairly easy though I did have to decide what to do with the Asha'man coat (as I remember it only being described as a black wool coat).. so I decided to take a little artistic license in with it, giving it the thing out-line (which is supposed to be gold). It's hard to see but he has both his pins (the sword on his left side, the dragon on his right). And by the way, his sword is on his right side because, yes, he IS left-handed. It came out a bit hard to tell but what he's holding in his right hand is his braid; his hair is short, as you see, on top and he has it long and braided in the back reaching almost to his knees; he has a habit of holding the braid and depending on his he's holding it, twirling it, etc. you can tell how he's feeling. :p (IE if he's squeezing and gripping it, he's angry or if he's running it along between his fingers, he's nervous). It was also a pain to try and get his cross-belt to look good but I'm satisfied with the end result.

Sorana was difficult because I draw very few females and this one, by chance, worked out into profile view so I was, honestly, a bit afraid because I was never good with the female anatomy (namely breasts), but I think it came out very good. She, too, has a braid which we see crossing over her body into her left hand (her right hand is slipping into Lucovares' left hand, though it's hard to tell). I was trying to think of a clothing design, and it was difficult, because she wears overdresses and underdresses all the time, so I didn't want them to blend together.. so I decided to try and give the over-dress short swallow-sleeves with highlights along the cuffs, while the under dress was darker and tighter on her arms. The dress is also supposed to be split for riding, so for the over-dress I decided to make it so that the front is missing so you would just see the underdress. It was AFTER all of this that I was reminded of the Aes Sedai shawl so I tried to think of how to incorporate it and I think for something last minute it was rather strategically placed. :p

Btw, in the back is just a quick sketch of the castle of the city they live in, Ilindith, which I did just for filler (as you can tell I am VERY bad at backgrounds and shading alike).

But over all, I'm satisfied with the result. :)

I absolutely LOVE this picture. I can tell that a lot of work was put into it. I like the clothes especially, and how Sorana's hair comes down along her body. The folds are magnificent (something I'm working on myself), and the eyes seem to come alive as I look at it.

Very well done. Now I want to hear more about this RP! The characters sound interesting, and I love how you gave them little quirks with their braids. But, hey, this is an art thread, so I'll make a suggestion that you work on your shading. It would make the picture even better.

Awesome, but the faces of the people look a little pale and the highlights and darkening spots are hard to see or is it just me.... :dizzy2:

Thanks for all the replies/comments/compliments/suggestions, etc. Allow me to retort, if you will... ;)

Saber: Unfortunately it was a pretty ****ty scan job thus the wide grin on Lucovares' face was cut down to well.. nothing, it would seem. :p However the life-less and emotionless look on Sorana was intentional (if you've read Wheel Of Time, you'd know why too :p). And.. yeah, I suck at hands too. :p (I just happened to get lucky with Sorana's it seems... in fact, a lot of Sorana was luck. :p).

    Kaziglu: Yes. Yes I do need to work on my shading. ;_;

Ice: Same thing as I said to Saber, it was a piss-poor scan job. So a lot of **** looks.. well.. yeah.

Anyways, maybe when I get a chance I'll try and see if I can't fix it up or do a better scan. Though kinda busy and all, with work and I'm concentrating more on my next picture, not to mention my access to a scanner is limited.

Overall, the sketch is great. My only gripe is with Sorana, as she looks more like a bishounen with breasts to me, than a woman. (Not that I can do any art, mind you.)

And Lucovares' left eye seems to be mis-shifted a bit, as if he's got wandering eye.

And the last thing, is that Sorana's hand seems to disappear into Luco's. Make the angle a bit more shallow, and you can make them seem like they're holding hands.

But, really...the picture is great. The hair (which bugs my own attempts at sketching to no end) is amazing for the fact that it's in black and white.

Hands are nicely proportioned, and Luco's clothes are nicely designed.

Again, I have to say I love the hands/fingers on your sketch, because Luco's looks male, while Sorana's looks female. Mine always turn into sausages.

    Bravo.

    hn.

Thanks 4 the details Izzy, true-to-true. But somebody said to add color, no offense, but me thinks you shouldn't. I should know I draw too! The colors give you a better visual, but, it really cramps the true meaning of the pic! :anime:

Ah, really? Hell, I just don't color them because I doubt I'd be able to stay in the lines. >P And I certainly don't have the patience and such for any CGing. :p And Chejo; I like my pics big, that way it's easier for me to spot something I ****ed up on so I can cry about it. ;P

And thanks to everyone else, for the comments. :p

*Gasp* You read those too? I love those books. It's been forever sense I read them, but I remember it was a pretty good series. I think there were three books, right? I can't remember. Thought it was funny they had to put dictionarys in the back. ^.^

Those are really good! ^.^ I like the expretions. Nice job. I can't quite read the words, though.

There are currently eleven books (one of which is a prequel) and Robert Jordan says there are two more coming. :p At least last time I checked. The words are just me writing the names of the characters next to them, and the one that says "Crappy" pointing to the crappy background I did. :p
