Movies New Pink Panther?

I already started one thread on a Peter Sellars movie, and here's another. First off, I have to say that the original movies were greats. And now I hear that they're making a new one with Jim Carry playing Sellars' part...I'm not sure how to feel....

 

Please tell me you're joking. Nothing against Jim Carrey, but there is no way he can compare to Sellars. Why are the companies doing this? Do you know anything more about this? Why would they do this?

 

Peter Sellers made the Pink Panther. I love Jim Carrey, but it's just not the Pink Panther without Sellers.

 

They already made a new one a few years back with Roberto Begnini. Had some amusing moments but it didn't compare. Would Jim Carrey do any better? Who knows.. No matter what happens though we will still have the originals, they can't ruin them

Yes, they need to learn when to stop sequels. I know it's easy money, but I'd like to have more original things.

Sellers made those movies. I like Jim Carey too, but I'd rather see him in something new and different.

 

Good point. Even if it was good, it would be a rehash. Jim Carrey can be very funny.. his talents would be better served by making something new, original, unexpected. Humour after all is based on the unexpected.

So.. more creativity in Hollywood please!

 

I was curious, and went to see who exactly was going to be in it.

It appears that Steve Martin will be the new Cousteau in addition to directing the movie. It is going to be called The Birth of the Pink Panther, and will be a prequel to the other ones. My dad also told me he heard that Kevin Kline will be playing the part of Dreyfuss.

 

I heard now that Steve Martin will be playing Inspcetor Clouseau....but there's no way for me to verify, one way or the other.

 

WHen i first read this i thought that Jim Carrey would not really fit the role, i'm a fan but i don't think that he is right for the character, espessally since it was Peter Sellers that made the character. It's the same with Silence Of The Lamb's, when Jodie Foster's character was playied by another actress in Hannibal it just wasn't the same.
I think that Steve Martin would be an even worse choice to play Inspector Clouseau, at least with Jim Carrey there would be some spark in the character.

And as for my Favorite line: "Is this a minkey"

(also i know that Jodie Foster chose not to play Clarese in Hanibal and that it was not offered to the other actress straight away, i was just pointing something out)

He better do a damn good job. Replacing Clouseau is like.. finding another guy to be Columbo [Peter Faulk].

Still, should be interesting.

 

No one could ever replace Columbo. Partially because it'll be hard to find a dissheveled guy with a glass eye who can act so damn well.

And Zanza, if you mean the cartoon Pink Panter as the Pink Panther, than the answer is yes and no: There is an animated one in the movies, but it's only during the credits. It is the name of a diamond in 'The Return of The Pink Panther', though.

So, I guess you're totally lost and shouldn't be here.
