Well, for all you NTSC fans, there was a new PS2 released just today/yesterday. Let's just call it the "Network pack" for now, but it's in the cards that it'll phase out the normal PS2 boxes.

The box itself is black to the PS2 Sapphire Blue. The package price, as of this moment is 199.99 American. Now, don't you all get your panties in a bunch just yet. It might go down soon. ^_^ But, that isn't the best part. This sucker comes with that 40 dollar Network Adaptor already strapped in and ready to go. That's already at least a 20 dollar premium you *don't* have to pay for, because the Network Adaptor runs about 40 bucks.

Plus, there's the new infrared port, which pretty much coincides with the new remote control coming out in a few months. This new-fangled controller has a sweet little power button, allowing you to turn off your PS2 from a distance. So, you done playing FFX-2, just pick up that little remote control and hold power down, and you dont' even have to get up. Just lie your butt down on that couch you've been potato-ing on, and sleep.

Also, it's the new generation burner/software. Looks the same, but it *supposedly* plays DVD-Rs and RWs. Don't quote me on that, it's *SUPPOSEDLY*. I haven't known it to be tested yet.

Well, that's the package deal of the new PS2. So, for all you PS2-ites out there that want one but don't have one. Be happy. It's a good day to buy one.

And this comes from the source, a Sony Representative actually came in today, and talked to me about all this stuff.

Oh, and Sony is also making their own headseats, as is logitech. Look for those in the upcoming months.

Also from Sony is a new USB video camera. It's supposedly coming out with games that make you look stupid, but is inanely fun. Also, if you use one WHOLE memory card, you can save a 60 second video feed with full stereo sound. Not worth it, but it would be fun to do the "DDR/Bemani" thing to a camera. ^_^ The screen shot included a Sony Exec headbutting a digital soccer ball, keeping it in the air. He looked retarded. Kinda like that guy, right there.

SOCOM II is heading out soon. More maps, more weapons and more stuff to do.

Jakk and Daxter II and Ratchet and Clank II, both nominated "great" games.

There's also the new Tony Hawk. Hehehe, this I find funny. It's called Tony Hawk Underground, which Sony shortens down to THUG. Hehehehe. Anyway, whoever makes this is REALLY pushing the limits of the PS2. Sony says that you can make your own playable WORLD in this game, instead of 2 and 3's miniature skate parks.

And next year, therein lies the PSP. Sony's answer to the GBA. Unlike the GBA, this sucker comes backlit (so no "PSPSP" to wait for! ^_^) and uses Sony Memory Sticks as the backup/game storage. Bad news: PSPs are supposedly to start at 200, and Memory Sticks are NOT cheap at all. Good news: Optical EVERYTHING, and games will start at -25 dollars (cheaper than a GBA cartrige).

So, there you have it. Oh, yeah, Gran Turismo 4 is online and voted and won about 4 awards at E3. And it seems that Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater is a PS2 ONLY treat. However, I kind of doubt that, as Substance was supposed to be a PS2 ONLY treat as well. ^_^

Whew, that's a lot of stuff.

Heh, as jazzy as it sounds, PS2 still doens't offer enough to really bring me back to consoles (turn into a PCGamer with my last computer build). I'm still waiting for the release info on the PS3 specs. If that sucker plays PSX and PS2 backwards compatible, sign me up then. :)
