    hey

for everyone that knows bout the NGE: Platium edition dvds
do u know if they will be releasing a box set for it like the japanese release (NGE: Renewal boxset) ?
i saw it a couple weeks ago during an anime convention, and the first dvd was in a separate box, will it be like this for all the dvds?

I think it will be a sort of "buy all the dvds and put them in your empty box" kind of sale.

However, I do think it's rather annoying for ADV to realise ANOTHER dvd box collection of NGE. Isn't this the third dvd box of NGE that ADV is realising?

well i only know of one other version, and thats the original nge box set
when i read about NGE:Renewal on one of the Newtype issues a couple months back, i was really interesting, comes with series (remastered), movies, music plus a bunch of other stuff and a crazy looking box ^^
but due to licensing problems, they cant include the movies, so its just NGE:platium

not exactly, each dvd is released in a separate box, so u end up with like 8-10 single dvd boxes =_=
    imo, thats just crap

No no no, the Platinum series comes in a separate SLEEVE. There's a volume 1 that comes with a full box that holds all 8 of the sleeve-cover cases for NGE.

Kinda like...a box in a box.

There's a "sleeve/box" that covers the DVD slipcase of the 8 DVDs. Then there's a separate box that you can put all the DVDs in. I believe that's what Teddz was trying to mention the first time, and I know this for a fact, since I work in a video/electronics retail store. ^_^

There is a NGE Platinum box out there to place all the DVDs in, being sold with the first DVD depending on where you look, but it's a huge waste of money to buy it, in my opinion. Really, the box is the only different thing that comes with that particular "set", and it costs almost ten dollars more.

On a related note, however, I've only seen the first disc for this release on the shelf. I was wondering if anyone knew what the release date was for the next one.

EDIT: And Izzy beat me to the first part. :p

Is there any difference in the content of the platinum series as opposed to the previous release? That's really what confuses me. >.>

There is a bit of a difference, but in all honesty, I'm not really sure if this was on the original release or not. ^^; There's a commentary with various important figures in the American release of the series. Also, everything has been touched up somewhat. Again, as I've not really seen the original release, I don't really know if that's the only difference.

5.1 surround sound is on the platinum ones as well.

It's also been cleaned up a bit, the colors seem sharper.

Need your advice people, i would very much like to get the whole series on DVD, so is the Platinum collection or Perfect Collection better.
Do either have the Xtra directors cut episodes.

I found the Perfect Collection online for 85 euro, but does anyone know of anywhere else online, or in Dublin i might get a better deal.

Or i guess is there some other DVD set coming out soon.

    Thanx in advance :)

I'd say Platinum Collection since it's the latest edition of the NGE box...but that's just me and my swedish advice.

They haven't released the entirety of the Platinum Collection yet. Apparently, they need time to decode the english dubs into Dolby 5.1 as well.

Thus far, Platinum has gone up to Volume 3 (Asuka).

As far as WHERE to get it, www.dvdpricesearch.com is always a good place to start.
