    According to this article:

    No more Nintendo consoles

Nintendo will not make any more consoles. It will make games for other consoles(and GameCube) from now on.

Just a brief word before anyone gloats, this article simply says Nintendo won't be making a new console for quite some time, but it will still make games for Gamecube and Gameboy Advance. (It says *nothing* about other consoles, and it would appear to still be Nintendo-system-exclusive in terms of game manufacture.)

And personally I feel while its a risky move, its probably the best one they could. It'll be nice to see game-makers actually using a piece of hardware to its full extent for some time instead of having to go out to buy *another* console after 5 years or so.

I mean, consider how long the original NES served.... what, a decade or so? Thats *huge*. Sure, the graphics weren't always the prettiest, but only in the very end did quality games begin to leave the NES.

Anyway, very very interesting article, Kaneda. Thanks for the link.

Im glad they are doing that.My friends dont want to buy an Xbox now because they said they are working on Xbox 2 already.Xbox wasnt even out for a year when they said they were working on Xbox 2.Its kinda like buying a computer, you buy it,you go home only to see a commercial for PC that is 10x better than the "latest" computer you just bought.

They axed nothing. They just said they wouldnt be shitting out another console in 4 years time, instead going for a longevity strategy, ala the original NES.

Now, as for sales figures, give a source.

If you take more than 5 seconds to think about it, it makes sense. After 3 years or so you have to buy a new console because they stop making games for the one you have. Do you see new N64 games coming out? I dont think so. It's all gamecube. And parents sometimes get annoyed of their children always buying machines every 3 years. And they're pretty expensive. It's a good strategy since Xbox will lose alot of money by already planning Xbox2 and telling it to the world. People will wait for Xbox2 and not buy the original one while Nintendo will get all the cash. Exactly like Neph_X said, Like old NES.

Nintendo is making a new console, they are planning for a 2005 release date. Go read my Gamers.com and Big Nintendo news topic on this forum for more info.
