the way I see it is that you can watch Dragonball Z and either be addicted to it in an instant, or hate it. The reason why I watch it is for the fast action fighting!!, you've got to admit that when it comes to kick @$$ fighting that Dragonball is one of the best action shows out there. Also I love the music in it for the English version, it's heavy techno type stuff!! In my opinion the animation quality has been consistent and okay for a 500 episode series....

%That guy!, who's thinki' that Dragonball Z is being too hyped over here for little kids(who destroy popularity of anime for teenagers and adults...)

Imagine Lain/Dragonball Z!! That'd be insane, but then again there probably are fighting games like DBZ on wired...

I used to love dbz and I've seen all the episodes in cantanese (from Hong Kong tv). From what I've heard, the english translation got lots of long drawn out fights (like Freeza's final battle) shortened cause it's just unneccessary. I'd never watch dbz now cause it's just too long and the charm of super beings blasting the crap out of each other with planet busting energy pulses just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I can understand why kids love it though cause I did too.

    Fast-Action-Fighting...? Isn't it more like:

"My power level is higher than yours!"
"No it's not, mine is at 5,000!!"

*Flurries of kicks and punches in the air, for two or three minutes...*

"Now I'll get you. I've only been using 5% of my power!"

*opponent sits back and watches as he powers up, oddly not kicking his ass while he's defenseless...*

    "Take this!!"

*Throws a big burst of energy, big enough to take out a large city...He looks down into the crater, breathing heavily...*

    "Haha, gotcha!"
    "Nope, missed me!"

*And then go back to the beginning of my message and start again...*

    -------------------------
In either case, I kind of liked dbz for about the first season or two, until the end of the Frieza saga, and then...I realized it was like watching re-runs, even though the eps were "new" to me...Every storyline seemed to go like so:

1-the heroes become aware that some big bad guy (the strongest in the universe) is coming to get 'em
2-they spend the next four/five eps training for the fight
3-bad guy arrives, but Goku is off somewhere else...
4-good guys get their asses kicked (or killed, but it doesn't matter...they'll find the dragonballs and wish 'em back!)
5-Goku arrives and after a drawn-out battle he emerges victorious...
    -------------------------------
BakaMattSu, who doesn't wanna get involved in a long drawn out topic battle, so he will leave it at that...

Bakamattsu you havent seen the Cell Games
have you Goku dies and Gohan comes out victorious!

And as for DBZ i think you can only really appreciate it if you have some Martial Arts
    background.

IDAVE, who has a Red Belt in Taekwondo.

What do you say about DBZ? It's so simple yet so addictive. All the way until they changed Goku's voice and he started sounding like a limp noodle with as much courage as the effin' lion from the wizard of oz. I was thoroughly upset. Anyways, I like Space Ghost coast to coast.

You think you know old? I once found myself looking up Japanese animation so old it was Pre-World War II!

Actually, I never managed to track those down. Elusive buggers, they are.
Back to DBZ, anyone who says it is pointless is absolutely correct (sorry, That Guy!). I find it has a weak plot, and while the original cast rocked, the current actors suck. However, I love the animation style used, and the action is unparalleled. It's kind of like pro wrestling, the acting is cheap, the plots suck, but the action keeps millions of fans coming back for more
