    By "non-series" manga, do you mean it only has one volume?

    That's not true! Not true at all. Some of my favorite series are very short, only a couple books. And as far as one volume, I thought the Happy Lesson manga was super cute and enjoyable, (though my friend tells me theres a second one.) My friend also has a lot of those "yaoi series" manga, those are great and a droolfest, and most of them are 1-volumed.
    I also recommend:
    .Hack (3) yeah...
    Azumanga Daioh (4) ...which is hilarious
    Wish (4) fantasy/romance. clamp.
    Onegai Teacher (Only 2!) romance/sci fi. very sweet.
    Zodiac P.I. (4) shoujo-ish, murder mysteries & such
    Legal Drug (4) semi yaoi-ish. clamp.

    FLCL was only a 2 book manga and it was somewhat awesome.

    This one kinda doesn't count but Alien Nine: Emulators. This is only one volume but it is a follow-up. Also in the line all the Gundam Wing Time Gap manga is all one volume. Also Mobile Suit Gundam: Blue Destiny is one volume. And Gundam Wing Episode Zero. Say what you want but these are all one volume even though they are part of something greater.

    Yeah, and I forgot to add that Alien Nine (original series) was a good read as well. It's only 3 volumes, really original and science fiction-y.
