I would think that's just a sound-effect, isn't it? Like, the japanese version of onomatopoeia

let me look it up-nyo ^^

I remember in the one episode Kimura Takurou, the blonde dude, was really angry and afraid when Dejiko said nyo at the end of her sentence because it was against grammar or something-nyo :p But I'm not sure, I found a few words with "Nyo" in them, such as:
    nyonin - women
    nyou - urine
    nyoronyoro - slitheringly
    nyojitsu - reality
nyoze - so; thus; like this

hehe, I got these from http://www.linear.mv.com/cgi-bin/j-e/dict

remember, they are cat girls from another planet...nyo is the japanese sound effect for a cat's meowing...thus is why they end every sentance with it, nyo. :catgirl:

    I love Di gi charat!!!

Anyway, "-nyo" or "-nyuu" would just be cat sounds that they say at the ends of their sentences. As for gema: "-gema" and..something like..in Akihabara Dennou Gumi (Cyber team in Akihbara) some of the girls end their sentences in "-chu" making it a bird sound, because their name translates to birds names. Odd! :D

Digi Charat is such a cute anime just from the artwork alone. I've seen a music video of it though. (Dejiko=Cute! n_n)

I'm guessing since there's no accurate defenition for nyo, I guess it fits into the same class as no da or any one of those things that people say at the end of their sentences.
