I know a lot of you will probably just shoot me the usually "punk rock sucks" bit, but I want to know who likes old school punk music. And just for kicks I'm going to toss in a little bit of a poll with three of my favourites, just to see who's on top. So that's The Ramones, The Sex Pistols and The Clash. Take your pick.

I'm always saddened when the Clash are stuck in with the terrible Pistols/ horribly repeditive Ramones.

Come on, the Ramones put forth such hits as Blitzkrieg Bop (a staple for any sports fan), I Wanna Be Sedated (the song that pretty well got me into punk in the first place), Beat On The Brat, Havana Affair and The KKK Took My Baby Away. All solid tracks.
Sure, The Clash had theirs too. Like Rudie Can't Fail, London Calling and London's Burning. But pound for pound, I'm still all for the Ramones.
    Hey, ho! Let's go!

Misfits/Danzig. I prefer these "old school" punk bands over the Ramones or Sex Pistols.

Since you put the bottom thing on the poll, I have a reason to post here.

The Misfits have reformed themselves so many times they're hardly the same band. Besides, I've always just seen them as the band that all the kids say they like when they want people to know how much of a punk they are. Then they stand around on the street wearing Misfits shirts with their poorly-self-dyed hair, with piercings everywhere, too much eye makeup and smoking a cigarette, just asking unsuspecting university students for change or bus passes. Okay, that's just what happened when I walked downtown last week, so it's probably just me.
Seriously, though, the only really noteworthy song they had was Last Caress, which was so much better when NOFX did it ...

You've gotta be kidding me. Minor Threat is just about the best hard-core band of all time. That's a subgenre of punk not a lot of people like, but they just don't give it a chance.

But... the Ramones are so repeditive... the Clash have some diversity, at least, with the whole reggae type vibe with Police and Thieves etc.

Plus, they have Stay Free, which is great.
