Fred Ladd (who was the voice director and possibly the producer of the "G-Force: Guardians of Space" dub) is a pioneer in dubbing of foreign animation and programming. One of his first animated projects was the dubbing of the Japanese show "Tetsujin 28" (Iron Man 28 roughly), which became "Gigantor" when it was brought here to the States. Gigantor (which along with the original version is in black & white) premiered back in 1964 and was one of the shows which paved the way for the influx of Japanese animation to come to the U.S in later decades. Hell, it even paved the way for "Battle of the Planets", which itself was considered influential! Its old, black & white and cheesy but its good. "Gigantor" airs on CN's "Adult Swim" block at 5:30AM every day except Fridays. Its been on for about a week now. If you have a VCR/TiVo its time to put it to good use!

Upon seeing this show you can see where Ladd got his idea to use his trademark Americanized and overly exaggerated names for characters. This was more than 20 years before Ace Goodheart & Dirk Daring!
